( He used to borrow his Dad's hunting backpack, which is a bit smaller. NOW Dad wants the son's pack!) LOL.
Before my 20 mile trip over three days on the PCT in the Central Cascades of Washington state, I had never done any real backpacking/camping. I've never worn an expensive pack and I don't have any experience to compare the Teton to something else.
Out of the box the quality seemed very good and held true on the trail. The only malfunction between our two bags was that my rainfly became detached from the bag as soon as I pulled it out of it's pocket to cover my pack during a very sudden and heavy rainstorm. The rainfly still effectively covered all my gear and kept it really dry so I was happy about that. The rainfly is also really big and covered my oversized tent and bedroll that I had strapped to the exterior.
Another gripe was that there are no straps on the sides of the pack which would have been great to strap my bedroll and tent to either side. The pockets on the sides of the pack are cool for stuffing trail snacks or first aid or bugs pray or anything else you might need in a hurry without digging through your main compartment but I'm sure I would rather lose the pockets and add tiedown straps in their place.
The last thing was a minor inconvenience for my wife but it is more of a personal problem. She is well endowed and since the packs are unisex and not specifically cut for females, her shoulder straps put some added pressure on her chestal area ; ]. I guess more expensive, female specific, packs account for bosom comfort.
All in all I believe this pack provides a great value. The price is more than fair and I think I'll be able to use this for a long time. Though I do know that I will be saving up for a more advanced pack in the future, this one gets the job done and great fashion. Once I no longer need this one it will make a great spare pack to have to outfit a friend who may not have their own gear!
My pack was about 38 pounds
Wife's pack was about 25 pounds

As a woman I will say that having a small torso and being average height was okay when it came to adjusting the straps. The torso (lengthening) strap wasn't enough to stretch down to my size (because of my height) but I made it work!
Also one more thing is the straps for shoulders tend to rub on your skin after a couple miles-which can leave the rug-burn feeling on your skin (I wrapped mines with extra cloth and safety-pinned them).
Besides that, I made it probably over 20 miles hiking at midnight and the weight of the bag never pulled me down or backwards!
I'd definitely still recommend this to those even around my size!
*the durability of this bag was a 5/5 for me*
