Enjoy an immersive, imaginative play experience with the Moff Band. This comfortable, slap-on bracelet is easy to wear and encourages kids to move around and be active with realistic sounds that follow each action. When kids swing their arms, a whisk can become a tennis racket, a spoon doubles as a magic wand, and pencils turn into drumsticks – there are no limits with a child’s imagination and a Moff Band.
From the Manufacturer
First, slap on the Moff Band. Our comfy, slap-on bracelet is a one-size-fits-all design that stays on even the most active kids.
Next, pull up one of our Moff-compatible apps and sync up the Moff Band to your Apple iOS or Android smart phone or tablet. The sounds will come from the device.
And now, the best part – move around! The Moff Band is ready to encourage interactive gameplay. Feel free to run 30+ feet from the device and sounds will follow!
The Moff Band was an overnight Kickstarter smart toy sensation, and its initial funding goal was met within just 48 hours. Major publications, including Gizmodo, USA Today, Engadget, Fortune, The Daily Dot, Mashable and Popular Mechanics have covered the launch of this innovative toy. And the response from consumers has been just as enthusiastic.
Describe your product in 3 words.
Active, Imaginative, Kids
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
I saw that there was a problem with toys that ended up sitting dormant on floors and in closets while kids had their eyes glued to the screen. The idea came to me to empower the intuitive imagination found in each and every child with active movement through the technology of a wearable.
What makes your product special?
Kids are more active with the Moff Band and feel encouraged to be creative. By using the universal language of movement, our wearable smart toy empowers each and every child to imagine. Also, the Moff Band is fun for the whole family – brothers and sister can play together and grandma can jump in anytime!
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
The best part of my startup experience has been the challenge. Specifically, at Moff we have challenged ourselves to empower kids to use their imagination by recognizing their 3D motion using only a wrist band. We feel like we have done a pretty good job so far of enabling all types of kids to get up, move and even learn a little bit. And we have enjoyed every minute of it.
Top Customer Reviews
Some of the sounds are cool for kids to play like swords or ninja stars but the cooking sounds (like eggs frying) are of very limited use.
Making a train sound by waving your arm can get annoying fast.
The drum and guitar sounds promising but it doesn't really time the beat of the drum to the hand movement. As long as you keep waving your arm the drum and guitar keeps playing but there is some lag and it's a little slow when you are trying to do air guitar.
Also, you need your iPhone or iPad within Bluetooth distance (30-40ft) with the app running to hear any sounds. No sounds come out of the armband itself.
You can change the sounds on the app and they keep adding new sounds every week.
The band is fun for kids and makes lots of cool sounds like
STARS N STRIPES (GUITAR)
FISHING (CASTING, REELING, FISH SOUND)
HERO (VARIOUS JAPANESE VOICES)
MAGIC (MAGIC WANDS)
The band attaches to your wrist like a slap band.
The band could also work great as a special effects sound device if you were putting on a play or something like that.
Setup: The website on the box DOES NOT WORK (moff.mobi/setup)
Instead you must download the app from the itunes store then watch a YouTube video to learn how to set it up.
The link to set it up is https://youtu.be/_tZDBhh04z4 or just search YouTube under Moffband user guide.
You must use the app to connect the band to your phone. Regular bluetooth pairing will not work. You run the app and make sure bluetooth is turned on and the audio is not on silent mode.
Then you input your username, age, right or left hand, and you are ready to go.
You can have more than one Moff Band registered to each account.

We have gone through a number of different children’s wrist devices. It seemed like this one was going to be the easiest to set up just from looking at the directions. What could go wrong? The children have a Fire phone for which many applications have begun to work – generally by going to, 1Mobile Market.. But I used my Samsung Note to hook it up to Android just for purposes of the review and because I did not want another useless wrist band to deal with. (Don’t ask…)
It seemed all user-friendly except that I am never able to get the initial set up to start. It says PUSH and I do and it says “Unfortunately Moff has stopped. Report OK.” I tried variations, holding the push button, not holding it, pushing it before or after the directions popping up. But the light always goes off and it says: Unfortunately Moff has stopped. Report OK. The green light does not stay on so it says it is off: “Unfortunately Moff has stopped. Report OK.” The next time the red light comes up and the same message comes up: “Unfortunately Moff has stopped. Report OK.” I even once got a blue light but no it was not a sign of progress: “Unfortunately Moff has stopped. Report OK.”
In trying to find troubleshooting directions, I have learned much, including the Moff is a “rank held by sector governors of the First Galactic Empire.” I bet it works for them.
First, thank you very much for purchasing the Moff Band and for your review!
We apologize for a late reply back to your disappointing experience and we are committed to offering the best experience possible. We want to make it right for you.
Due to issues that we heard from our Android user base, we updated the Moff app in January to fix bugs with the Bluetooth connection that was causing the app to crash. If you'd be so kind, we encourage you to update the Moff app (if you haven't done so already) and then try to connect your Moff Band once more!
Also, from what you have wrote, it seems like you have been pushing the power button each time when the green light disappears. In order to save battery life, green light is set to disappear after couple seconds. This does not mean the power went off.
So if you would please try reconnecting after you press the power button and see the green light, that would be very helpful.
If you are still having issues, we would appreciate it if you send an email to email@example.com and we can help you from there.
Thank you very much for taking your time in reading this comment!

50% of the cool feeling in cartoons and shows like power rangers is from the sound effects, so having a sort of flexible/interchangeable way to do it with the Moff Band is fantastic.
I'm currently trying to convince my wife to take it to her classroom and integrate it somehow.
Really fun, really great, and looking forward to future apps that interact with it.
