About the Author
Kirk Painter is a licensed physical therapist who has practiced since 1995, after graduating in 1994 from SWTSU in San Marcos. He is co-owner and director of PTRC Physical Therapy in San Marcos, TX. He recently received his doctorate in physical therapy from The University of Texas Health Science Center. He has served, and continues to serve, as adjunct faculty at Texas State University and co-interviewed hundreds of PT applicants at the required Texas State on-sight interview. Inspiration for this book came about from answering daily questions regarding admittance tips and insight on how to get into P.T. school. Background: As mentioned earlier, he has interviewed hundreds of P.T. applicants as they tried for admission. He has mentored hundreds of P.T. students on their rotations, as well as undergraduate interns and volunteers, in his clinic. Seeing who is successful and who is not, has been very enlightening causing him to study this subject further and subsequently write this book. He has channeled this insight, along with P.T. and O.T. faculty interviews, to help aspiring therapist succeed.

I actually read this book on a plane on my way to an interview. It helped me solidify answers to interview questions and individualize what I wanted to communicate to my interviewers. I was offered acceptance to this school! Finally, after 3 years of applying.
This book is a great resource--most everything there is to know about understanding the field and applying for school can be found in this book. Read this early and often!
Also, it's a good resource for students who are entering the application process or already have applied and haven't been accepted. The author is honest and looks at the process from the interviewers perspective and supplies the reader with strategies and tips on what he has seen in strong successful candidates...I recommend this book to anyone who might be considering PT as a potential career choice! Great resource!
