From the Back Cover
The world's foremost academic expert on UFOs and alien abductions provides the first evidence-based explanation of a mystery that has perplexed scientists for decades.
Based on more than 700 hypnotic-regression interviews with alien abductees and a Roper survey of 6,000 adults, The Threat reveals why the aliens are here and what they want, explains why their agenda has been kept secret, and exposes their frightening plans for earth and its inhabitants. In a direct, authoritative challenge to researchers who believe the abduction phenomenon is essentially benevolent and spiritually uplifting, Professor David M. Jacobs proves that there is a far more disturbing and potentially dangerous plan underway, with possible alien domination at its core.
In this remarkably well-researched and well-written book, Professor Jacobs has added a new complexity and depth to our knowledge of the UFO and abduction phenomena. The secret alien agenda revealed here is ominous, but it must be confronted before it is too late.
About the Author
David M. Jacobs, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of History at Temple University. A pioneer in the field of UFO research and the abduction phenomenon, he is the author of many articles and of Secret Life: Firsthand Documented Accounts of UFO Abductions. He lives in a suburb of Philadelphia.

David Jacobs is probably the nation's most respected person to be involved with UFO abductee research, and for good reason. He is as honest about his own quandaries, methods and image among skeptics and outright hostile folks toward the entire phenomenon. But his unbiased approach, hypnosis methods and the very disturbing conclusions he is reaching through interviews of over a thousand people who have been abducted are very compelling, and his commitment is purely objective. He goes into detail of the events during abductions, the now suspected reason the 20th century has seen an enormous increase in UFO sightings, aliens and abductions, and explains his methods in a clear, sensible and even alarmed manner.
Without being a spoiler, I find this book to be anything but sensational, matter fitting of the worst supermarket rag, or any kind of exploitive tome. So many points are made that it's hard to argue: abductees who are recalling abduction experiences with correct, not misleading or agenda driven hypnosis, are not revealing hippy dippy tales of a benevolent civilization here to save the planet. They are horrified, sometimes injured during physical examinations that are very much centered on sexual function and reproduction, and there are eyewitnesses who can vouch for their disappearing and "lost time".
The most disturbing detail as Dr. Jacobs suggests, and I concur, is that the experiences, descriptions of the aliens, and there are many more types than the little gray aliens everybody loves, procedures and other details you'll need to read about to find out more, are all almost identical to those of other abductees, spread across the globe of all religions, nationalities, professions, sexes and ages.
Since all of these details are brought out during hypnosis (Jacobs does have a few subjects who can remember events without having to be hypnotized), he readily admits much more work in researching this area of phenomena is needed, and admonishes those who deliberately steer those being hypnotized into areas the researcher/hypnotist prefers to further his or her own agenda and desired conclusions.
It's still a very touchy subject, and while I can't just accept everything as absolute truth, due to the processes involved, nor can I discount the possibilities of what's happening or may happen in the future as far as what this particular alien species has in store, and the book reveals some conversations abductees have with some aliens on the UFO's that indicate there are many many other intelligent species in the universe, but what Earth is experiencing apparently is from just one.
Again, I don't believe it's prudent to merely accept these incidents as stone cold fact, but it is foolish for humanity to assume through its religions or societal pressure to believe we are the only species in the universe or the universes, period. For those with open minds, not gullible minds, who aren't afraid to contemplate the cosmos and all the possibilities that lie therein, "The Threat" is a good book for thinking about, and frankly, now that I'm on Dr. Jacobs' third book that is the followup to this one, it is not good. He is terrified, almost disconsolate, and his overall sincerity and thoroughness is impressive. It is not a "fun" ET style read. But it is food for thought, and any book that stretches our thinking capacities to allow for new ways of viewing our existence is worth it.
I scary part is their ability to control human's minds, trick the cashiers in check out counters. Its a wow book.
Jacobs is an expert on what goes on during so called 'alien abductions'.
One of the weirdest things is when the alien they call 'the doctor' puts his eyes right up next to the abductees' eyes and stares into them. Jacobs calls this the Mindscan procedure. The doctor can cause the abductees to experience all sorts of feelings and thoughts using this process.
There's a strong sexual component with this phenomenon. Sex comes up all over the place in many different forms, some of which are mental.
These creatures are involved with creating hybrid life forms that are part human and part something else.
Jacobs criticizes other researchers like John Mack who believe everything the abductees say at face value.
However Jacobs falls into the same trap in a way. He believes everything the aliens say.
They talk about the future on planet Earth where they will reign supreme with the people they have genetically engineered. All the 'normal' humans will be dead.
Jacobs actually believes this and he has no hope for his kids' future. He's afraid the world is going to be run by a gigantic, all seeing insect.
I may send him this review in an email and suggest that maybe this won't happen. It may help him sleep better at night.
We have more serious problems to worry about than these aliens such as our nuclear arsenals.
Jacobs is a good guy. I sent him a letter about his other book many years ago and he actually wrote back to me:
