The wide variety of circumstances you will encounter in these 75 personal accounts will definitely hold your interest. In each story something profound was happening to the individual. The writers dig deep, revealing a part of themselves as they touch a wide variety of topics such as marriage, infidelity, divorce, infertility, adoption, heartbreak, shyness, mental illness and aging. As you read, you will find yourself on a treacherous mountain trail in the Amazon Jungle, diving 50 feet below the sea, rafting on a river, rock climbing and so much more. Some stories take place on the job, in a hospital, a child’s bedroom, a sidewalk, etc. You’ll meet a diverse group of people and gain insights into their lives. I saw myself in some and in others I learned about different sides of life I had never known. Once I started reading I found myself wanting to read all 75 stories, and some I read over and over.
I could especially relate to the story of Jacob Melaard, being a Dutch expat myself and having had a very similar experience.
I recommend Thresholds to all those that sometimes want to pick up the book and be reminded of how wonderful the processes of life are if we just trust them.
The profound experiences and obstacles overcome in these stories have topics that anyone and everyone
can identify with. This was a great read and will make a great gift!
