Top customer reviews
The product came well recommended, and looks to offer excellent value for the price. It fit perfectly in place of the F-F grounding coupling in the entry box; installation took all of five minutes. Service was unaffected after installation; saw no significant signal loss per my DVR's diagnostic screen. Internet access and speed were unaffected.
The reason I'm not awarding five stars is a rather nasty surprise I received when reading the instruction booklet: it specifies use only with RG59 cable. It was in fact adamant on this point, specifying adapters (not included) on each side for use with RG6. The product description claims "It is specifically designed for todays Broadband signals carried over the coax cables." I know of no modern cable application that still uses RG59, including my own. I did not use adapters; have no idea what the implications are, but hoping it isn't a safety issue. Either way, this does not inspire 100% confidence in the product. At the very least, this limitation should be made clear in the product description.
So, five stars for the unit itself, minus one for the incomplete product description.
We had a lightning strike in April that took out our cable modem, router, and several switches, along with the cable company's trap outside in their telcom pedestal. After that, we installed this TII 212 arrestor in-line right before our newly installed cable modem. Then we just suffered another lightning strike this past week that took out the cable company's trap again but did not damage the modem or any of our other equipment. This offers great protection.
After only having my smart TV for a few months, i was disappointed to find the lightning hit the cable and damaged the Jack and the cable box. I had a surge protector for the other things, but didn't get around to purchasing a surge protector for the cable. I suppose i"m lucky it only damaged the jack and the cable box
After reading the reviews i decided on this product for the price i thought it was worth a try. It doesn't come with screws eg, just the surge protector.
Installation wasn't hard-you screw on the coaxial ends, (make sure its grounded).
I took a photo for you to see. Everything seems okay, didn't expect it to be a problem, but everything still running at high speed.
I will have to give an update when lightening hits.
I hope this is helpful
After installing this, I noticed no degradation to either my cable television service or broadband speed. One of these days I will post photographs of my Data/Comm/TV distribution panel showing this device. Please check back in about a month.
