Most TNA fans in recent years know of TNA home being in the Impact Zone at Universal Studios Flordia...however that wasn't always the case as their early years of the company took place in Nashville, TN in a building that they called "The TNA Asylum." Well TNA has revisited their past from time to time on various DVD sets (History Of TNA: Year One) but now they've decided to release a collection of various matches from this early period of the company from that building in his collection.

Along with various matches, you'll hear from various TNA talents (Jeff Jarrett, Dixie Carter, A.J. Styles, Kazarian, Alex Shelley, Amazing Red, Chris Sabin, Eric Young, Jeff Hardy, Abyss, Douglas Williams, Raven, Chris Harris, James Storm, Robert Roode, D'Lo Brown, J. Borash, referee Andrew Thomas, and Mr. Anderson) on such subjects like the history of wrestling in that building before TNA, the Heavyweight & Tag Team & X divisions, addressing the critics, the rise of talents like A.J. Styles & Abyss, stars from the past coming into the company, Sting's arrival into TNA, veterans teachign the younger talent, the debut of the six sided ring, the acquisition of Jeff Hardy, and leaving to go to the "Impact Zone."

Matches Include:
Ladder vs. Submission Match: NWA Champion Ken Shamrock vs. Sabu - This was the first main event in this building (the previous taping were held elsewhere) in a match where you could win either by submission or climbing the ladder to retrieve the title while it should be noted that Sabu came into this match with both his nose & fingers broken.

I thought this was an average dvd. What hurt it was too many repeat matches from other TNA Releases and filler matches. Some examples of matches I would have picked are Scott Hall vs Ron Killings for the NWA Title and Curt Henning vs Jeff Jarrett for the NWA Title. Hall had some good matches with Jarrett early on in TNA. Although Hall's runs were brief with TNA he did give it a shot in the arm when he was there. Henning was the greatest wrestler never to be World Champion in WWE and WCW. Killings had a longer tenure with TNA and was a cornerstone of TNA in the early years. Some of the matches I liked where Sting and Styles vs Luger and Jarrett. It was a good tag match and a rare wrestling appearance for Luger. Say what you will about Luger he beat Hogan for the title and few wrestlers can say that. Triple X vs AMW was an awesome match. It would have been nice to see another match or two from these tag teams. AMW was the greatest tag team in TNA early on and Triple X was great too.

Sabu vs Ken Shamrock was a great and rare match. Sabu is one of the most hardcore wrestlers ever and Shamrock is the World's Most Dangerous Man. It was a fun match to see and I am glad TNA included a match like this which had two TNA wrestlers who weren't long term fixtures in the company. Another good match featured a Young CM Punk. Punk is the most popular star in wrestling today and moving closer to equaling John Cena's status as the top guy. Julio Dinero and CM Punk vs Terry Funk and Raven. It was also nice to see Funk on the dvd. He was one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He did a lot for ECW and it's too bad he wasn't in TNA longer. Even past his prime I don't think Funk can have a bad match. Dusty Rhodes vs Jeff Jarrett was a good match.

This DVD is perfect for fans who have been watching TNA since day one, those who have just taken an interest in the product, or those that just enjoy good solid wrestling matches. You will see matches involving the major stars of TNA (Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Abyss, Jeff Hardy) as well as seeing wrestlers you may have forgotten were apart of the promotion (Kid Kash, Dallas, Monty Brown, D-Lo Brown, Chris Harris).

WORD OF CAUTION: I highly recommend you watch this DVD via computer or a gaming console to keep the screen format in a watchable aspect that will not give you eye strain or headaches. In a regular DVD player the footage is stretched to the MAX. Better if you watch this on your XBOX 360 or PS3.

In conclusion: This is a decent DVD. As stated earlier. If you have always been a fan of TNA this is great to remember their humble beginnings. If you have just taken an interest in the company it serves as a great "history lesson" on why this company is what it is today. And if you are just a fan of good wrestling no matter where it comes from you won't be disappointed.
