While the debut "Tortoise" was a sparse incredibly spaced out affair, and "Millions Now Living Will Never Die" a blending of that sparse element with some more grooves and more intricate guitar, "TNT" is a rich beautiful album that like "It's All Around You" showcases their musicianship and is full of luxurious melodies with a touch of jazz and ethereal pop to lift it up into truly rarified atmospheres.
Far from being dull or self promoting, "TNT" is one of those albums, as are all Tortoise albums designed for everybody, with music so dreamy and so good that vocals would indeed be little else than an intrusion into a soundscape that communicates on a different level of communication entirely.
This is a band made for the night. I can't imagine a better setting to listen to this or any Tortoise album than on a cool clear moonlight night out away from city lights and gazing into the stars. Perhaps this is where the truly cosmic music exists, and only a very very few people have the capabilities to pick up those signals. I'd certainly put Tortoise in that league.
As you can tell, I really dig this album. The "repeat" function is frequently used on my CD player whenever this disc is played. Highly recommended.

Eccellente.
