Better than ANCEL BA101 I had to return

I originally purchased the ANCEL BA101 but when it arrived it didn't work. It sparked when the clamps were attached to the battery terminals and the only language I could get was Polish or Russian. I sent it back and ordered this unit. It worked well on arrival and generally looks and feels like a higher quality unit. If there is any complaint it is the same complaint I have with 99% of electrical equipment today, the wire insulation is made of plastic rather than flexible rubber. They have a memory and aren't flexible when it's cold. For just a little more money more flexible wires could have been used in place of the stiff plastic insulated wires it comes with.

5 stars but beware! Connect directly to battery posts!

One of my cars has a battery in the trunk the other one under the hood and hard to reach posts. I used the connections on both cars that are used to jump the car easily. These are connected directly to the batteries and are also used to charge the batteries. They are very likely to give you a false reading that says replace the battery!!! You NEED TO CONNECT THIS TESTER DIRECTLY TO THE BATTERY POSTS! I learned this the hard way after buying a new battery for one car first since it was older. Installed new battery then decided to check the old one one more time before returning to store for core charge refund. This tester gave a reading that said battery was perfectly good!!! I then took the other battery that was supposed to be bad to a parts store and it was also good! This tester needs to be connected to the battery posts not another location used for charging or jumping! They need to include this in the description. I hope this helps someone not make the same mistake as me.

This battery tester fit my needs perfectly. I come across car batteries often and it comes in handy in knowing which are good and which are ready for recycling.

You can easily test a battery without it being in the car, however, charge test or any other require the battery to be in the car and running.

The instructions are clear on how to perform each test but there is no description of what the tests purpose are. Additionally, there is no further information on battery type etc. in the manual so you may need a little bit of battery knowledge to use for your application. Most batteries have a label with that information or a simple google search should help out.

Overall a great and easy to you tester for my application.

While you can get a basic battery reader/tester for much less, I'm glad I shelled out the extra bucks for this tester. Not many tester will give you the internal resistance of the battery which can tell you a lot about the health of your battery and possibly why it's going bad. You can also test your alternator's performance by turning the car on and testing the battery while it's being charged. As you can see in the video, I am glad I got this tester when I did because my battery isn't doing so great and it's probably on its way out sooner rather than later. If you have multiple cars/vehicles then I think investing in a unit like this is a no-brainer. It lets you choose from different types of lead acid batteries and comes with all the critical test features.

This is an epic tester! I spent a lot of time shopping and comparing; I considered what famous youtubers said. Definitely glad I got this tester!

It has 3 tests to test the battery, cranking, and charging. Must have with less driving because of covid.

My car failed the crank test (took too long to crank), but I had just replaced the battery and it tested at 100% state of health (soh), so perfect there. I tightened the battery connections, and that fixed it!

I tested three different batteries that I have. I have a sealed lead acid battery and two flat plate AGM's. The oldest battery is the lead acid and I charge all of these batteries every few months. The lead acid was first to be tested and thankfully it said it was only in need of a charge (67% healthy, 50% charge). After charging that battery the battery came back as "good". The other two AGM's are both purchased within the last year and they both tested at 100% healthy with different states of charge. I'm currently charging the AGM's one at a time. Thanks to this tool I do not have to replace the lead acid battery - yet. It was purchased in Aug 2016 and I'm sure it's older than that since it's from Japan (in a Nissan). The battery tester is worth the piece of mind. Last year my wife's battery in her car failed at the grocery store. Thankfully she was able to get a jump start and drove to a auto parts store where it's since been replaced with one of the new AGM's. I don't want that to happen again and I feel this tester will allow me to keep track of my battery status - this and a good battery charger. I want to be able to catch a bad battery (if able) before another family member finds themselves stranded again when I'm not nearby. I understand that batteries can fail at any time but this could at least give me some advance notice.

used a resistance/heater type tester on an AGM battery that was suspect, and it said it was great. However it would die after 20min of light load, and should have lasted 3 hours or more. This BT100 said REPLACE even after the disconnected battery was fresh off the charger. It said GOOD (and slightly higher capacity than the rating) on its new replacement.
And NOTE you MUST disconnect the battery under test, as leaving it in-circuit will result in a different result due to the electrical characteristics of the external load.
Also tested good motorcycle battery - good and matched the batteries rated CCA.
Tested known bad auto battery - REPLACE. Tested my 6 year old vehicle battery - GOOD, but low CCA, and 53% health. Ran a fancy multi-step charger on it with a reconditioning cycle for 5 hours then retested - still good, but slightly higher CCA and 58% health. And for a 6 year battery, on would expect it to be degraded.
I'm really satisfied this tester is far more reliable than my older technology load tester.
Of course for auto charging and cranking tests, the battery has to be connected to the car - but for battery analysis it must be disconnected, I don't believe the manual covered that
If you have remote battery connections like some cars (eg some BMWs, etc, you have to get to the battery itself and disconnect it to get a reliable analysis. More work, but thats just how it is.

I purchased this based on reviews, videos and decided to buy this more expensive product vs. other brands and the fact that it seems like you can get North America support/warranty for this. The test/scanning results seem consistent and I will use this tool by taking an initial reading on new/newer batteries to take a baseline set of results and then monitor the battery health over its life.

At least for the voltage reading - it is consistent with my regular volt meter. crank amp vs CCA measurement seems to be a bit spotty but I can get around that by doing relative or multiple readings over the course of the life of the battery. It's not meant to be the end-all tool but something to add to your arsenal for your car maintenance.

Accurate battery tester

Bought this due to Scotty Kilmer's recommendation.

First time use on my 6 year old battery, it gave me a "check connection" battery error, which I was not believing it at all (voltage is fine, and there was no sign of battery problem). I was a bit angry and thought that another fake product on amazon. Yet, 2 days later, the battery died suddenly... it turns out that the old battery has a small internal crack on one of its lead plate

I should have believed the "connection error" in the first place rather than doubting it and should have replaced the battery rather waited and strangled in my own drive way.

Conclusion: always believe whatever it tells you because it is genuinely able to detect your battery problem(s), excellent product that I will from now on test it with my car batteries every year.
