They work great, easy to install, but has application flaw
The plug switches work great and were easy to install. But there is a flaw in there application. When you add your switches, you can’t change the order as they appear, they appear in alphabetical order, and no way to change there order. (As my photo shows)Kasa knows about this issue, but doesn’t seem in any hurry to upgrade there software.

Sometimes finicky choosing a word to name a plug that my Amazon Echo device will recognize, but it's not the fault of TP-Link or Kasa. My network found the plugs rather quickly once I used an Extension Cord to start them right near my Router. Once I had them linked and tested I moved them to where they need to be and they work fine. I had the larger TP-Link plugs but these are far better filling only one outlet and not getting in the way of other outlets. The instructions could be a little more clear, but I figured out that first the plug has to link with the Kasa App on your phone or tablet via WIFI, and then set for your WIFI Network. At least that's what I remember going through. It was a week ago when I set them up running a Fountain and Lights in our Plant Window Alcove I'm very happy with them and the sale price of around $16 per plug. I bought a three pack.

I've tried to stick with one or two brands to reduce the amount of RAM the apps take up on my Samsung Tablet and the ease of setup and control. I use several Amazon Echo Dots for voice control and I have a few TP-Link switches and a TP-Link camera watching my front door and one at my Mother's watching over her. I also use a Harmony Hub system and Phillips Hue lighting. The TP-Link Switches control lights that can't use Hue bulbs and some cheap rope lights.

Installation and configuration is a pretty easy to set up. Follow the instructions exactly, and you'll be fine.

I've integrated my smart outlets with HomeAssitant so I can toggle the switches w/o needing my phone to control the outlet. Also allows for 100% offline mode of controlling the switches.

One of the big problems with remote plug adapters is often the size, these are perfect as you can get them side by side in a standard US socket.

WiFi seems reliable, it's only 2.4GHz, but that's normal, I've got lots of different brands but these seem the most reliable and they do provide firmware updates.

I connect them to my home automation system and to Kasa on my phone, plus they can be used with Alexa, though generally I don't bother.

I subscribe to Ohm-Connect (if you're in California check it out ohm.co/ukthewall ) and these work perfectly to turn off your appliances and earn money. I probably make back 10-20% of my electricity bill during the peak periods when it's an ohm hour.

Other positive things.

1) Manual switch, so you don't have to find your phone to turn them on an off.
2) LED isn't too bright, I've found it acceptable to be on in a bedroom at night.
3) Can be configured to work with Domoticz and a third party script, which is handy if like me you have a complex home automation setup.
4) Price, this is a cost effective way to get the high power version.
5) Yes these are the ones that can run a high power appliance, the others may be slightly cheaper, but I don't want to worry about the power I'm pulling through

I built a couple of pipe lamps with (LED) Edison lights in them. I wanted to add these two lamps to my Google Home and Google/Nest Hub so I could use voice commands to turn them on and off. I downloaded the Kasa app to name them and link them together (as one light), then added them to my Google Home app. Now I can say, "Hey Google, turn the lamps on." and everything works perfectly! I didn't run into a single problem with these. They were easy to connect and use. Oh, and you can still use the other plug (above or below) on the wall, which is really nice! I did a lot of searching for the plugs I thought would work best and I'm glad I did my research, these are phenomenal! I would most definitely but them again and reccomend them to anyone.

I ordered several sets of these plugs for my home in late 2019 and fell in love with how easy they were to get up and running and how well they worked. In fall 2021 Spectrum updated my router because my old one was sooooo outdated. Turns out the plug hardware version (1.0) wasn't compatible with my new router. Customer service (TPLink/Kasa) asked if I could downgrade my router......um....no. After several days of back and forth trying different options, it was narrowed down to the hardware version as mentioned above. I had 1 of 6 plugs that worked and didn't have issues staying connected to the internet and turns out it was hardware version 3....so the senior engineer I'd been working with arranged for a replacement order to swap my 5 plugs with the old hardware version with new hardware versions since they were still under the 2 year warranty. I had confirmation that the replacements' version would be 3 or 5. Well, after a couple weeks, I got my new plugs EXCEPT...they were hardware version 1.0, the same version that I sent in and the root of my problem. And this is where all my true gripes come from. It was very difficult to get the senior engineer to return my emails, regular customer service saw my case had been assigned to a senior engineer so they couldn't do anything but tell me to wait for an email from said senior engineer. After WEEKS of trying to get the issue resolved, reaching out several times in every way I could, and finally getting a supervisor's contact info, I got an email saying more plugs were on the way. The plugs this time were the correct version and have been working perfectly.

So summary:
If you have a newer router, beware you could have issues if the hardware version is 1.0

Customer service was great until there was a problem/mistake on their end and then it was like pulling teeth to get any kind of response or assistance. I had to spend far more time reaching out and practically begging for help before I got resolution.

TPLink asked me to write a review saying how great the product and customer service was....this is my honest review: Love the product, hated the experience I had with the senior engineer trying to get support.
