No frills router. But what it does.... it does really well. I'm not sure why... but in the past year I have gone through 3 routers due to the router dropping the connection, requiring either a router reboot, or a router and modem reboot. I had an old D-Link that worked well but had only a "G" category connection.. I upgraded to a Lynksys N... worked good for a while but started to drop connection occasionally... So I again upgraded to a Buffalo dual band N router... this was the worst of them all... would disconnect once or twice a day.. I could not deal with this. Mind you with all these routers I went through a pretty extensive troubleshooting program.. I updated firmware, drivers, tried multiple locations... call the techs to get help... nothing worked. I was frustrated and tired of spending a lot of money on these units.. so I tried this relatively inexpensive TP-Link router. Let me tall you what a rock solid router this is... has never dropped a connection.... streams video media from online like a champ... can stream video and have myself, my wife, and my daughter surfing online at the same time without even the smallest hiccup. I'm totally taken aback by the performance and reliability of this inexpensive TP-Link router. Really easy to set up and secure. I would recommend this to anyone that just wants a high performance stable router. I can go anywhere inside or outside my house to a surprising distance from the router and still maintain a great, fast, stable connection.

If you need to send signal all the way down the block. If you dream of aiming signal right where it is needed. If you need a little less signal, take off one or more antenna.
This thing broadcasts 100 yards on the maximum setting. It broadcasts a signal 60 yards on Medium and about 100 ft on low. If you need less, as I said, they recommend removing an antenna.
Don't get this for a small apartment or small house. It would be overkill.
But if you have a place of business and you want to offer WiFi to your customers, this is the fast wireless router you have been looking for. All sorts of option in the configuration, or just use their wizard to configure it simply. You don't need to know anything about installing WiFi to get this up and running.

I've had a pretty standard WRT54G for a long time, running normal firmware, Tomato, DD-WRT, etc., and I finally got fed up that despite having 40 MBps through the door, I was only getting ~15 MBPs on my wireless devices.

As I mentioned above, I'm very familiar with custom firmware and involved setups (Port Triggering, Forwarding, MAC Filtering, etc) and so I expected to jump right to the Admin Console. I gave their silly little mini-CD a shot and it was set up in (literally) 30 seconds. Sure, I could've done it, but I was impressed that a setup CD actually worked once. I went into Admin Console anyway to make sure things were setup correctly, and added some Trigerring for Xbox Live, but it was a breeze.

My last speed tests with the WRT (down speeds only):
13.57
12.81
13.01
11.67
13.77
13.71

After plugging this thing in:
34.66
34.70
28.15
27.65

More than doubled. I'll take it. Solid 5 stars.

I was skeptical on take this router because I really can not believe that I can get something good for this price, but I am really impressed with this router it provides me total coverage in a two floors house (concrete) which any linksys-cisco router can not do in the past I actually change a more expensive WRT160N for this, and I am very happy, the other good thing is that you can change the antennas (which I did) and the coverage is very powerful, so do not spend your money in other expensive routers if you for this price can get this amzing coverage, 100% recommended to every body.

For the money you couldn't ask for a better router, easy to set up, great security features and great price. Had it up and running in a matter of minutes. It is wall mountable, has 4 ports in back, compatible with my wireless G devices and arrived 1 day ahead of schedule. If you can read and follow the simple quick install guide, you should have no problems. Would recommend this router to anyone wanting to go wireless N on a budget.

The 5 star rating is for two iphones, max signal strength all over our 3100 sq ft two story home and 30-40 ft outside(50ft+- from router in center of house). Installed 9/21/2013 running nonstop to date 10/22/2013. For $50 it solved our problem.

I initially had some trouble setting this up using the wizard. I unplugged and restarted everything and thought that might have solved it; the router said it was successfully configured, but there was no internet. It wasn't until after calling tech support and later reading in the troubleshooting that, if you have cable internet, you need to configure the router via the Web Management Page. The troubleshooting directive follows:

For cable modem users, please click menu "Network > MAC Clone". Click Clone MAC Address button and then click Save.

Since so many people have cable internet, you'd think they could integrate this into the setup wizard. Seems like an unnecessary hassle to have to go dig through the web management page. Anyhow, now that its up and working, it is very fast and I get a much better signal upstairs than I did with my previous ASUS (RT-N13U/B) Wireless-N router (I replaced it because it started cutting out frequently after a few years of good use). If it continues to be reliable, I'll be very happy with this router (I'll report back if issues develop).

TIP: If you live in a congested area (apartments or dense neighborhood), there will likely be other wireless routers that could cause interference. By default, your router will be set to Auto with regard to finding the best channel (set it in the Web Management Page under Wireless Settings). I found setting the channel myself gave the best consistency. I downloaded the WiFi Analyzer app for android and it shows you what channels the other routers are using (I've also heard of inSSIDer for desktop, but have not used it).
