From the Manufacturer
More Wi-Fi for More Devices
Serve more devices than ever before with Tri-Band technology, which gives you three Wi-Fi bands (one 2.4GHz and two 5GHz).
Stream 4K HD video and play online games simultaneously with 3200Mbps of total Wi-Fi throughput over 2.4GHz (600Mbps) and each 5GHz (1300Mbps + 1300Mbps) band.
All three bands have a dedicated CPU in addition to the 1.0GHz Dual-Core Processor to better support a massive amount of devices at maximum speed – like having three routers in one.
Connect Everything Without Slowing Down
Get the best Wi-Fi experience on the greatest number of devices thanks to Smart Connect.
Always be on the fastest Wi-Fi band by having Smart Connect assess all three bands and select the best available option for your device.
Optimize your Wi-Fi when you move from one spot to another by having Smart Connect check your connection and adjust it if a better one is available.
Six antennas with high-powered amplifiers and beamforming, which focuses Wi-Fi towards devices for a stronger connection.
Connect and Share
Using four Gigabit Ethernet and two USB Ports (one USB 3.0).
TP-LINK Tether App
Adjust settings from mobile devices with the TP-LINK Tether App (Android, iOS).

The router is strong and relatively easy to set up. In fact it more or less works right out of the box with no configuration. My acid test for routers is to set them up with a phone. When I used the TP-Link app, this thing was super easy to configure. On a phone, don't even attempt the web based setup, page loading takes an eternity.
I got some pretty amazing results with this router. The beamforming technology really works. I went to a really difficult area - wireless reception was really bad, almost nonexistent. The first time I ran SpeedTest, the results were horrible. By the second test, the router had figured out where I was located and cleared up the signal. The speed results ended up being equivalent to standing right next to the router.
I compared this router to the Linksys equivalent, the AC3200 tri-band router (the two are similar price and have similar features and advertise the same speed AC3200).
Setting up both routers was about the same. Linksys did a great job with a web browser in a phone; not so great with their app. TP-Link did a pitiful job with the browser on a phone, but excelled with the app. In fact, I'd say the app setup with the TP-Link was some of the fastest easiest I've ever seen. Linksys prints the SSID and password on a piece of paper and the box.Read more ›
I have ATT Uverse. I had them come out and give me a new router thinking that was the problem.
My Daughter would use her data connection in the evenings on her iPhone because she could not get WiFI in her bedroom. It was causing us overages.. I bought a TPlink Extender... really didn't work well as the connection IT was getting from the Dlink and the Netgear were, apparently weak... I tried it in a few locations...
I finally did even MORE research and tried buying this one last month.. The interface was even slicker then the Netgear 1900 which has a pretty nice interface.. And most importantly, we have coverage throughout the house and I have had ZERO loss of connection episodes since installing it..
It is actually smaller then the Netgear although it does have more antennas.. It is also black, so its not so obvious as the blue and black Netgear...We have it behind some picture frames.. I point the antennas towards the inerior of the house..
This was a winner for us. I was able to remove the TPlink extender entirely, (this will save you money) and my daughter now gets good WiFi in her room..
This router worked very well for me.. Now our streaming services work better as well also.. Getting a much better speed when they "Determine network connection"..
I set it last week to use the mode that selects the best channel for you. I forget right now what it is called.. But it works really well,. If you shoose that however you lose the ability to name or define the 2.4 and 5 ghz networks.. But do not fear... It actually works really welll.
The router works but since I installed it my Brother 2270DW wireless laser printer won't stay connected to the new LAN. I've installed it at least 25 times. Finally gave up and hardwired to my laptop via a USB cable when I need to print--a royal pain for a wireless printer. Yesterday I decided to permanently connect the router to the printer so I wouldn't have to hard-wire to my laptop each time. After trying on my own, and against my better judgement, I called TP-Link customer service for help again. As before, after 15 minutes of a recorded American English speaker telling me I was number one in line a tech support rep answered. It was deja vu all over again. She spoke English, but I couldn't understand her. I remembered that after my first review someone from TP-Link replied that I should have requested a rep from another region where English was more common, so I did. She said she would have her "college" (she must have meant "colleague") call me, and after some effort took my phone number. When her "college" called, it was the same English-as-a-distant-second-language problem. I gave up. Either I'll eventually figure out my printer problem by myself or I'll go back to having to hard-wire via USB cable when I need to print. Have I changed my opinion of TP-Link? Yes. Now I am absolutely certain I made a mistake buying this router. It is idiotic to pay this much for a router and not have access to technical support. I would have been better off with an $80 router. If they cannot or will not provide UNDERSTANDABLE English language support, then Amazon shouldn't sell the product. I wish I'd never heard of them.
It appears to work now, at least I can get a full 60Mbps (my provider speed) from it.Read more ›
