Thats an excersize in futility. The drivers software and even support are worthless.
Enter the TP LINK family of products. Ive been procuring their products for years, theyve never given me any issues at all, minus some minor connectivity with an AC 750 router that once i updated the firmware went away. They tend to lean to the techie market with removable/upgradeable external antennas and tweak settings in most of their better products.
PCI-E is a great form factor for a high speed NIC, and remember, your network is only as fast as the slowest thing its connected to. So i Purchased one of these for 15 bucks, literally shut down the computer, shoe horned the adapter between my Twin Nvidia Titan SLI GPUs, and turned the pc back on.
9 seconds later desktop appears, punch in my password and the card is already drivers loaded and connected at 1000x1000mb quick tracert and ping-t and some speed tests show that its using every megabyte of that connection in full duplex mode with NOT ONE error, true 2 gigabit bandwidth.
This is important. Reason being is that most of us have well over 10/100 Internet speeds, if you cheaped out with a cheap 10/100 Cisco Router or Cable Modem, the Gigabit wont help, youre limited to 100mb regardless.. In my case every desktop is gigabit, the switches are gigabit, and the router/cable modem is gigabit. On Spectrum Internet I average 960mb download speeds and 260mb out. Less than 18 seconds to download a ripped dvd from an offsite FTP server. avg time prior was about 3-4 minutes.
This is a decent Card for the price, Realtek is up to the old skool Intel NIC standards, and unlike the onboard KILLER Networking garbage, this takes a LOT less resources and CPU/RAM to run.
Overall worthy of 5 stars. I also have 2 and 4 port server NIC's with this same chipset and theyre also very good and incredibly stable.
Buy one and replace the ONBOARD Killer Networking E2200 or 2000/3000 Series cards and then MAKE SURE TO DELETE all the KILLER NETWORKING drivers and SOFTWARE. Theres tons of articles on the Net about how-to.
I ordered this to be a second network/different subnet connection (to keep IOT stuff off the home network) for a Debian KVM server with on-board network (Realtek 8111H).
When I opened the box, the card did not magically jump out and insert itself into the case (bummer), I had to open the case and install it myself (OMG - the horror). The TG3468 was detected by Debian Buster and after I set up a second network interface and KVM bridge, reassigned the VM to the new bridge, and did a restart, the VM was up and running on the second subnet. I did not setup inter-card routing on this server. Iperf shows 1GB connection from card to shop AP to house AP to house router to other house AP to other shop AP to on-board network. Sadly it did not increase my 75 mbps down/25 mbps up fiber connection to 10 gbps both ways...
Now we sit back test my chinese product theory: 33% wont' work out of the box, 33% will fry/cause problems within a week, the remainder will do a good job for a reasonably long time. We just passed week 1 with one power outage and a couple of flickers during the unseasonably cool winter here in Texas...

This card comes as a full height card, though also comes with a half height backplate which you can swap to if you are fitting into a machine with half height slots. The card itself is very small which is perfect since you should have no issues with it blocking up space or airflow if for example you had a graphics card in an adjacent slot (I don't mean double height card of course!)
I went into BIOS, disabled the onboard network card, then switched off and opened up the case.
As you can see from the photo, the card fits nicely into the small PCIEx1 slot (I'd always wondered what would really ever use those slots and my question is now answered!)
On booting up Windows 10, this was automatically detected as a Realtek Gigabit network card and configured automatically without need of the driver disks. Though I did manually update to the ones on the disk since they seem to be a couple of years newer than the ones detected by Windows 10.
In terms of performance, it seems to run just as well as the existing onboard 1Gbit adapter. I noticed no network drops during my time and I could see it connected and transferring data at the 1Gbit speed.
For £9, this is a great network card and if you're in the situation of needing one, I can definitely recommend this one.

Update: I tried the card in another machine x16 slot and it's working there, so it'll live on for now.
Network cards are mega easy to install, I had to download the driver for it from the TP link website via my phone as the pc I installed it in doesn't have a disk drive. But even doing it that way was easy and straightforward. If needed for any more builds I do I would definitely buy one again for the price
Windows 10 64 Bit picks up the driver but its dated 2015 so using the supplied Mini CD got me the more up to date drivers. Other than that - works as it should
