Upgrade to AC Wi-Fi
The Archer C1200 upgrades your network with fast AC1200 Wi-Fi. Dual 5 GHz (867 Mbps) and 2.4 GHz (300 Mbps) bands send up to 1167 Mbps total AC Wi-Fi, letting you watch movies and download files without slowing down your network.
Three antennas with beamforming create stronger Wi-Fi coverage, while a fast processor keeps connections seamless and uninterrupted. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports provide reliable wired connectivity and a USB port lets you easily share files, photos and music across your network.
Wireless AC for Faster Wi-Fi
Upgrade to Wireless AC and send fast Wi-Fi across your home. The dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands connect more devices to your network at once and deliver up to 1167 Mbps in your home—60% more throughput than AC750 routers.
Jump right into the action of your favorite movie and enjoy what you love without any interruptions.
Three Antennas with Beamforming for Stronger Coverage
The Archer C1200’s dual 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are equipped with beamforming, which locates Wi-Fi devices and focuses the router’s wireless signal toward them instead of sending it in all directions at once.
Together, they create stronger Wi-Fi connections, even as you carry mobile devices like smartphones and tablets from room to room.
Fast Processer for Seamless Connections
At the heart of the Archer C1200 is a processor that intelligently balances the demands of your devices to keep their connections fast and uninterrupted.
Stream movies, download files and share media while its processor seamlessly manages each Wi-Fi band, every connection and all of the router’s hardware and software.
Gigabit Ethernet for Wired Connections
With its four Gigabit Ethernet ports, the Archer C1200 delivers multiple high-speed wired connections at the same time without compromising performance. Connect your smart TV, PC and streaming box to enjoy watching your favorite movies and shows without waiting.
Tether and Easy Firmware Updates
Set up and manage your Wi-Fi through the TP-Link Tether app (Android, iOS). Tether’s simple layout lets you quickly change Wi-Fi settings from your smartphone at home or away. Plus, the Archer C1200’s Web UI grants easy access to the latest firmware, alerting you when critical updates are available.

I have purchased a number of routers over the years as the technology and performance improves, and the number of devices my family uses has increased. Over the past few years, I had migrated to the more expensive ($300+) routers in the hopes of greater performance. Right before this, I had an Asus RT-AC5300, a beast of a router that exceeded $400 when I bought it. But what I found was that as the price point goes up, the performance does not, and the reliability goes down. These expensive routers tend to be buggy and drop connections; they simply have too many features and are way too complex, all to provide functionalities that no one uses, or that none of your connected devices support anyway. The ASUS got so bad it was rebooting itself every few hours. The days of the rock-solid Linksys WRT54G seemed long gone... So I returned the ASUS RT-AC5300, gave my WRT1900ACS to a friend, and bought an Archer C7 (v2).
After two weeks of testing it, I have four words: it just works -- period. The signal is strong and punches through the lathe-and-plaster walls of my nearly 100 year old house. Its signal is considerably stronger than the WRT1900ACS that I had (which cost almost three times what this one did), and rivaled the signal strength of the $400 ASUS. It doesn't drop connections, doesn't reboot itself, and delivers a strong and steady stream of data to all devices, wired and wireless.
Only one word of warning; you need to make sure the Archer C7 that you purchase is NOT a first version. Everyone on the web has reported that TP-LINK badly botched the V1, especially for Macintosh/Apple devices (which is most of my house); most of those should be out of circulation or in landfills by now. The one I bought from Amazon was a V2, and it works perfectly with all of my Apple and non-Apple devices.
I recently gave Uverse the boot, and went back with Time Warner (now Spectrum). Uverse forced me to use their lousy router (replaced 5 times - don't even get me started - horrible couple of years). I also had a router that was about 5 years old (Cisco / Linksys), and so I figured I would be good to go. Well, performance of my IP cameras, laptops, and Amazon Fire Stick were not so great with my new setup. I figured it was Time Warner's fault, but decided to take a gamble and just flat-out replace my router.
So I arrived on the TP-Link AC1200 due to the low price but high performance specs. And I have to say I am blown away with the performance. I have been running it for over a month, and not ONCE have I had a hiccup where I needed to reboot the router. I have now been able to easily do port forwarding for my IP cameras, and connect as many devices as I want, with zero issues. Even my Fire Stick now performs like a champ (almost zero hesitation, even running wirelessly in a bedroom about 50 feet from the router). The range is excellent, signal strength excellent, reliability excellent, and I'm thrilled.
My ONLY complaint is that much to my surprise (and maybe because I still have a mindset and skillset more relevant to 2010?!?), there is not a dedicated WPS connection button. All of my IP cameras use WPS to connect, and so each time I had to open up a browser window, log into the router, and go to the advanced settings in the wireless screen to temporarily enable WPS. Not a show stopper because I rarely need this function, but it is a pain to have to go through those steps. Who knows, maybe that is a "security feature", but for me it is just a little extra trouble.
Regardless, the incredible performance and stability of this unit has made it WELL WORTH the upgrade over my previous router which on paper still "should" have been good enough for my needs. Very highly recommended!
