This is a very light compact modem. It doesn't take as much space at all and is hardly noticeable compared to the original Xfinity technicolor tc8305c box that she has had for 12 years.
I purchased this together with the TP-Link AC1750 on cyber monday for a great price. No more monthly equipment charge for using comcast modem. Yea!!!TP-Link Archer C7 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (AC1750)
Overall I am pleased with this purchase and the performance from both devices has been excellent.
Also, be mindful of the activation process. Even though the modem was paired successfully with Comcast (as per the instructions in the guide), I still had to manually activate via xfinity otherwise you won't be able to access the web.
When connecting the router, the TP-Link AC1750, in my case, I had to set the WAN setting to Dynamic IP and so it was able to pull down the networking addresses from xfinity. Once that it done, you are good to go.
I highly recommend this combination of modem and router which will allow for smooth performance for your internet.
This is a great value, especially if you have a router already (I have the Google OnHub). I attached two pictures of the size compared to the Xfinity modem/router that they supply for $10/month.
At first I purchased the Netgear N600 modem/router & I did not see any improvement, in fact it was worse than the modem Im renting from Comcast. The Netgear had worse range! After returning it & getting a refund I did some research & found out many people receive better results with buying a seperate router & modem. Although I do not like the look of having two boxes instead of one but I do like the results! I purchased the TP-LINK DOCSIS 3.0 TC-7620 & Archer C7 AC1750 & I am absolutely loving the results so far my speeds have tripled if not quadrupled!
Ethernet connection: 91Mbps
Wireless 2.4G connection: 95Mbps
Wireless 5G connection: 120 Mbps
Pros: Install was a breeze approx. 15-20 min & didn't even have to call comcast like I did with the Netgear.
Dual Band 2.4 & 5
*note 2.4g connection has fast speed & long range but has more interference from other devices. 5g connection has faster speeds & less range but less interference.
Will post an update later on.
My old modem was slow , it was an UBEE DDM3513 it was a rental I called Comcast and they told me it was slow because it was being phased out ( THEY call it END OF LIFE ) even tho it is a D 3.0 . Comcast tried to rent me a more expensive modem , more upsell tactics .
went to their site [...] and searched all the options and purchased this directly from amazon ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CVOLKKQ/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1)
Happy it works and no more rental fee , Now to cut Cable TV and move to RoKu and Amazon Prime
The one that TWC charged me for was a Ubee DDW365 Wireless DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem Gateway.
It didn't work very well and had issues with it.
With this i saw my average speed jump from 35 to 40 to 50.
I have with TWC 50/5 net so the extra speed means faster downloads.
the slowest I have gotten so far with this modem is 45 and that is on WiFi.
I called them and they told me same thing... Horrible experience. Sending modem back to Amazon.
Gave it another try and very friendly Person/Tech guy by the name of Tarun S activated my new modem!
I guess you have to insist until a more qualified person helps you out hehe
TP-Link is correct about this modem, it does work with Spectrum ( TWC )
Everything works great! Thank You.
