Perfect For Home Wireless Internet

I needed a router to extend internet service to 4 pcs in different rooms: a legacy Dell, a new quadcore AMD 64 bit Vista based unit, a Lenova laptop with Windows XP Professional OS, and a plain vanilla Emachine. I had planned to pickup a Netgear 3700 N modum in order to have the benefit of a usb port that I would use for a shared mass storage device. Since it was not yet available, I purchased the TP-Link from Amazon for $29.00 until the more expensive unit became available. I have only low intermediate technical knowledge, but the set up was simple and the accompanying CD quickly guided me through the process of establishing security. ALL four machines receive a very strong signal and the laptop can receive an acceptable signal 200 feet + outside. The router is working so well that I may abandon the more expensive brand name router and keep using the well made and nice looking TP-Link unit.

03/31/2013 Still going strong after several years with never being unplugged from power; streams Netflix and other video with only very rare delays. I will be unplugging this little friend and moving on to a new TP-Link 300 mbps device with upgraded security soon. I am hesitant to do so since the TL-WR541G Router is working so well and some of the N routers have had issues. Wish me well as I move on.

I replaced my Netgear wireless router (which I only had for 6 months) with this one from TP-link. I had connection issues, unidentified network issues, and my Blu-ray player was never able to gain online access through it and that was wired!

I was a little skeptical of this router because the price just seemed too good to be true. But, after reading a few reviews, I went ahead and took the risk.

It's only been a couple of days, but I am already extremely satisfied that I made this purchase!

The router worked right out of the box. My old Netgear required a call to customer support just to get it connected right out of the box! Everything worked, my laptops can all connect and I can watch Netflix on my TV! The range on this is even farther than my Netgear!

So far, it's an upgrade and for the price I paid it is more than worth it!

UPDATE: 12/5/12

I have had this router for over a year and I couldn't be happier. I don't even realize that I have it, which is how a piece of hardware like this should be. I never have to reset it and I only have my Blu-Ray player, which doesn't have Wi-Fi capabilities, wired to it. Everything else runs wireless with no issues. I run a Desktop computer, 2 laptops, a Kindle Fire, and use my phones on wi-fi exclusively when I am at home. Really, why would I pay any more for any other router? If I need another router for some reason, I am getting another TP-link!

Somewhat easy set up.But,if you need to call they are not in my experience, that patient, or nice at all. Despite that, everything appears to be working well so far. However, it has only been here and working for less than twelve hours. Will keep you updated if it does develop problems. Lost one star only because of the two calls to customer service.

UPDATE: I have had it for about two weeks so far and have had no problems with it at all. This was a very good buy! Have not had to call customer service so,I am happy! Be sure and use the CD they send along with it and it will help you immensely prior to trying to set it up by yourself. You may need to call your internet company to ask them a question but that should be it.

UDATE: The item broke a little after I had it for a month. I was told by a supervisor that they stopped making this model over two years ago due to the reason mine went out. TP link is however sending me a new upgraded one. They were going to make me pay to return it to them but they were nice enough to send me a courtesy mailing label. I purchased another one from them because I need wi-fi. I guess I will keep the other one as a back up. Service is still difficult to get due to the language difference so keep this in mind when you decide to purchase from TP link. DID give it four stars originally but it has now been downgraded to one. UPDATE AGAIN! They had me return it and NEVER called me back as promised or sent me a replacement! DO NOT BUY!!!

I have had several expensive routers that have given me a lot of problems in the past, a couple of them I had to return because I was unable to install them. Last month I changed my Internet provider (I have Comcast now) They said they could rent me a router for a few dollars more a month...I said no because I could always get a router for $40 or something in any store and I would end up paying less. As soon as I got my modem I went out to get a router since the one I had before wasn't working anymore. I went to several stores to compare prices (RadioShack, Walmart, Best Buy, you name it)and I was unable to find a router for less than 35 dollars, since I'm a little broke after Christmas I didn't want to spend a lot of money so I found this one here and decided to try it...for $25 with free shipping was worth the try...and I'm so glad I did! The min. I plugged it in it started working without running any CD or doing anything at all...it just worked...the only thing I did was to follow the very easy instructions on the user manual to put a security key for the wireless.

I have WiFi in my house and the signal strength is surprisingly good...all my devices are connected and I have just what I need at the price I wanted. If you are considering getting one of those very expensive routers...think again...this little fellow does the job for a lot less money!!! I'm very happy with it!!!
