I bought this TPI 605 vacuum gauge a few years ago and it's still working as it should. I think TPI is considered a value brand, as opposed to a high end brand, but this gauge seems to be well made and has a lot of features for the price. It comes with a folding metal hanging hook and magnet on the back and a 9V battery, but no storage pouch is included for some reason. This is a thermistor type gauge and has auto power off as well as 500 PSI overpressure protection in case you forget to remove it after evacuating the system. It has a selectable display that can be set to show either microns, PSI, inHg, mBar, Pascals, Torr or mTorr. It will read down to 15 microns and doesn’t actually start to display a reading until a vacuum of 12,000 [-29.47 inHg] microns is reached. This gauge has an operating temperature of 32F to 122F, so below freezing temperatures could possibly pose some issues. Overall, the gauge seems to be accurate and has held up well, so I would recommend it.

This is very helpful working with HVAC systems. To get a system set up properly, a micron gauge should always be used. Without this, you're just guessing as to the dryness of the system (which a lot of techs seem to do to save time). This gives proof. I wouldn't work on a system without it.

We got Pioneer split unit heat pumps and this seemed to work for the first 3 just great. It then seems to have crapped out. It is making an odd code in the window, wish I knew what it means. I am going to try changing the batteries but 3 uses seems like a fast battery burn to me?
