Works with Macs

These were at the bottom of my desk drawer for almost two years since after I bought them I thought they wouldn't work with Macs and besides I just found out after I bought them that Apple came out with a 802.11N access point so would take care of my upstairs. The latter was wrong and as well as the former that in about an hour I had it working fine! Don't listen to all that mumbo jumbo about one or 3 wire. Just make sure you either plug it directly in the wall or use a dumb extension cord. Do not use with a surge suppressor. I connected the 302e to my Apple Express access point so now I have great coverage upstairs. With Ethernet my Internet connection is about 21mbs with wireless about 19mbs if close enough and 300e? About 21mbs...can't tell the difference between it and my one ethernet connection. If this is not in stock then I bet the follow on would work even better.

I bought these because I did not want wireless in my home. To many stories about people stealing signals.

I got these (yes the two pack) when they were on special for $79.99. Super fast shipping came in two days.

I got these and connected them as shown in the enclosed booklet. I have been online ever since!!

I have the computer connected to my XBOX 360 and run Tversity. So far I have been able to stream music, view photos stored on my computer, and watch Youtube Videos. There are a few TV shows and Education streams that I have viewed as well.

These things work!! Just plug them in connect the wires and you are all set. The kicker is that the electrical box must contain all plugs for the home in one box. If there are two separete boxes...these will not work.

All in all a good and smart buy. Much better speeds than wireless.

First, and possibly VERY important if you already have a HomePlug network. . .the supplied utility will not work on ANY 64-bit OS and TrendNet apparently has no intention of updating it. I was told when I contacted TrendNet support to use a computer running a 32-bit OS! Great suggestion, since all three of our home systems are running either Vista or Win 7 64-bit. Fortunately, my company-supplied computer runs Win XP 32 - but it really didn't matter because I never got the network running properly and the configuration utility doesn't appear to do much. Here's the story. . .

(1) Connected the first 302E to a barely accessible AC outlet and ran a Cat 5 from it to a free port on my FiOS wireless/wired router.

(2) Plugged in and connected 2 local devices, one to a desktop and one to a Blu-ray player, both AC outlets are routed through the same circuit panel.

(3) I then started the TrendNet utility from my office laptop and was able to view all three devices from the utility. However, after I followed TrendNet's directions to ensure that all devices shared the same network ID, the two remote devices disappeared; only the local device connected to the router remained visible.

(4) I tried a hard reset on both remotes but they're still invisible to the utility.

(5) I then unwrapped and connected the one 302E that hadn't yet been configured. It appeared in the configuration utility and now the local and 1 remote device appear to be communicating. However, there is STILL no internet access through the 302E.

(6) And I STILL can't get the utility to recognize the two original 302Es; they're nothing but poorly designed paperweights.

So, what's going on here? It appears that the configuration utility may have scrambled the network IDs of the two original remote devices. You'd THINK that a hard reset would return the 302Es to their original default ID (TRENDNet), allowing them to be rediscovered by the utility. No such luck . . .

In addition, while it looks like the local 302E is connected to and recognized by the router and the one functioning remote 302E is communicating with the local 302E, neither the remote or the local device is able to actually access the Internet. (BTW, I agree with several of the reviewers that the configuration utility should not be necessary unless you need to change the default Network ID to match an existing HomePlug network.)

I've checked router settings (no problem, it shows the Local 302E connected to and communicating with LAN Port 2) and even disabled my firewall during configuration attempts with no success. I've sent another email to TrendNet Support but I've been putzing around with this on and off for almost 3 months and, if I can't get this resolved soon, everything is going back to Amazon.

Thank you, Amazon, for your liberal return policy and shame on TrendNet for lousy setup and virtually non-existent diagnostic instructions (and less then helpful tech support so far).

Dealing with the problem of my wireless signal not extending the full length of my house, I was told by a friend that this would resolve my problem. However this was not to be. Problems arose with the electrical wiring of my house being such that the plug at the other end of the house was on another fuse box and there was no ability of the signal to crossover to allow it to function. This, combined with setting up another router to generate the wireless signal, led to major frustration and many hours of phone-in tech help from Linksys and Cisco. To learn if this product was doable in my home in the first place is the problem that is only learned after purchasing the product. The return policy was great with sending it back after such was found out.

Don't know why... but didn't work as I expected.

I purchased this product for use with a video phone. I have fios service and over 15 mbps service. While the trendnet product seemed easy to install, it continued to drop the connection between the remote and the local unit. After spending over an hour with technical support it worked (Tech support was pretty good) ...for a few days. Then again, the remote unit would drop connection. Each time I had to re-connect it to the computer to re-program the module.

I exchanged the unit two times (tried 3 units) and each one had the same issue. That's 3 units I tried. I started to question my service or electrical lines so I decided to try a different manufacturer. I'm currently using an Actiontec adapter and it seems to be working just fine for over a week now (as of 12/2/09).

I have a two-story house that was built in 1995. These adapters worked in each of the six outlets I plugged them into. I did not have a "circuit breaker" problem. You have to connect the "main" adapter to a router and also connect a computer directly to that router with an RJ45 (Ethernet) cable. You run the setup software on that computer -- all you do is plug in "remote" adapters and enter their respective unique IDs (printed on a label on the adapter) into the setup utility. As each adapter is recognized by the setup utility, it is ready to use. My only complaint is that it does not run nearly as fast as advertised.
