I recently received a "version 2" AC2600 router that does not include Streamboost QoS, has only one USB 3.0 port, and there is no switch to turn off the front panel LeDs.
The version 2 is less capable for the same price, I suggest you look elsewhere if the missing features are important to you.
The TEW-827DRU router I received is lacking features that I saw in the PCMag review. So I did some investigating. I now know that the PCMag review was of "Version v1.0R" of the TEW-827DRU router. That version is discontinued, and I got a Version v2.0R unit. Here's what v2 is lacking: it does not have StreamBoost™, no WiFi On/Off button, no LED On/Off button and only one USB 3.0 port.
While I had noticed that the main description of the TEW-827DRU router in Amazon said there is only 1 USB port, I thought it was a typo because the description in the "Product Information" section (see attached photo) says there are 2 USB ports and the PCMag review also mentioned that there are two USB ports. [Amazon and TRENDnet, you need to fix the wording of the Product Information section - it's misleading at best, false advertising at worst.]
Then I realized that the product photos provided by Amazon do not include a photo of the back of the router! A suspicious person might believe that the lack of a back-side photo was intentional in order to let the unwary believe that they are getting the router reviewed by PCMag. See the attached photos, the difference between v1 and v2 are clear.
Version 2 of the TEW-827DRU router is a cost-reduced product. One less USB port, no On/Off switches and wiring for LED lights and WiFi functions and no StreamBoost™. But what else was removed or cost-reduced that is not as evident? I sure hope that the functionality of the unit was not lessened (other than not getting StreamBoost™).
I'm only giving this router a 1-star rating because I did not get the product that I expected. Further, I wonder how badly downgraded the capabilities of this router are from what I read in the PCMag review. I guess only some time will tell.
I sure hope that Amazon and TRENDnet will correct the wording of this product and at least add a photo of the backside of the router so other customers won't be misled.
When it did work I did do some testing compared to the old Netgear ac1750 I got used for $75 3 years ago(Very very cheap now) because I now live in a much larger 2 story home with roommates all connected to 300 Mbps internet. This new Trendnet AC2600 does have better performance but not by much. Up close they were the same speed(I'm probably not able to max out the speed of the router). But 1 floor away I have the same speed (around 40 Mbps on 5ghz) which was very disappointing.
Coming from an old high end router that ran on DD-WRT(custom firmware) that never once need a reboot or never once dropped a connection I was disappointed that a new router would not perform any better while being far less stable. Stay away from this, it can claim all of these features but what good are they if the device dies so often.

it worked correctly for the time it worked though. I just expect a network swtich to last more than 2 years.
