It has been two months since I received the replacement router and it has worked without issue. The return/replacement process was not overly difficult or time consuming, but it is frustrating to have to pay to ship a defective device to have the warranty honored. I have been happy with the router performance and am happy to have the device I ordered actually working. I have increased my rating to three stars because I am happy with the device performance, but the initial experience will prevent me from rating it higher. If anything changes, I will post an update.
I apologize for the overall frustration this has caused you. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or need further assistance. Thank you for your feedback as it is very valuable to us and helps us gain more knowledge on how to improve.

Product arrived within 2 days, super fast, thanks to Amazon! First impression of the product was slightly bigger than I thought, but the build looks very solid and heavy. The combination of the metal brush look, the plated logo, and the blue LED gives it a very modern and stylish look.
Before I purchased this product, I checked out the hardware spec on WiKiDevi. The hardware is exactly identical to other Netgear/Asus/Linksys AC3200 offerings, which are all based on Broadcom chips, same RAM and FLASH size, 2 USB ports. I quickly installed it, set up the router, and it was running within 5 min.
I expected a good performance with the money I spent, but wow, I was still very impressed when I saw the file transfer progress bar literally flying off, and streaming movies from my NAS was smooth! I used to have to connect to my old router by wire to see this kind of speed, and now I can do it wirelessly! There are two 5G channels for you to connect to, which is a big plus for me to balance the traffic load when my son is playing online games! From now on, I don't have to hear my son complaining while I am watching videos online! The coverage is also great, it now covers all the dead spots that I used to have on the top floor, probably due to its antennas, all 6 of them! I used to install a repeater to cover the entire house, and now I don't have to. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product, and I am glad I made this purchase.
There was one discrepancy between the documentation and the firmware interface. The documentation says that MAC filtering can be applied to the LAN interface, the WAN interface, or both. However, this capability is not available in the firmware. If you enable MAC filtering, the filter will apply across all WLAN's, including the Guest network. After some back-and-forth with Trendnet tech support, it turns out that this feature is not available, even though it was mentioned in the documentation.
The router does suppport the DD-WRT firmware. There's a version that can be downloaded from the Trendnet web site, but the DD-WRT site offers a newer version. I will probably install this at some point.
The only minor irritation I've found with this router is that it doesn't come with a stand. True, it is wide enough to stand on end by itself, but with a lot of Ethernet cables plugged into it, it's not terribly stable, especially if you have it on Metro shelving as I do.
This router provides a lot of bang for the buck. The native firmware is reasonably easy to use, and provides as many features as most folks would want, including a guest network that can be configured to not interact either with your LAN, or with other guests. I am quite pleased with this router, and would not hesitate to recommend it.
This wireless router is easy to set up (I have set up a bunch of different routers and this was about the same as others). I wanted to keep the same network name as my old router since changing the SSID would mean going to each device and making changes - no thanks) and after figuring out the user screens it didn't take much work.
We do have a wireless signal booster near the roku because the old wireless router wasn't reaching the roku with the speeds needed to stream video. With the Trendnet router we can turn that off and still get what we need - the signal reaches all parts of our house (a 3 story row home) and my kid who has the back bedroom states that she gets at least 1 more bar now than when using the older system. In the few months since getting the trendnet router I think I have only reset it (unplugged) it once and I am not even sure that was needed. We have only had one issue where I had slower speeds on my work laptop than I wanted and I think this was when everyone was home and one kid was both watching a video online and skyping. Damn digital natives.
I know the price is more than what I would have wanted to spend on a home wireless router and was tough to deal with given that when you search for wireless routers you can get them for under 30 bucks, but this is a case where you get what you pay for.Read more ›
