About this item
- SUPERIOR SOUND and EXTRA BASS. Equipped with 40mm dynamic drivers and aptX technology, these Bluetooth V4.2 headphones can deliver the well-balanced surround sound with prominent bass and clear treble, by pairing with your smartphones, tablets, or PCs. Integrated bass boost feature caters to those who are into hip hop or electric, but could be too much for those who prefer classic music genres
- LONG BATTERY LIFE and DUAL MODE. Rechargeable 500mAh battery with low power consumption offers 20~30 hours of music play time in the wireless mode. Or you can switch the wireless headset to the wired mode by connecting directly to your mobile devices via the included 3.5mm aux cable without draining any battery at all. You can also use the wireless mode while they are being charged
- ULTIMATE COMFORT. Stretchable padded headband can fit various heads of most sizes; 115-degree swiveling ear pads with super soft cushion provide an ergonomic & comfortable around-ear fit; lightweight construction (7.58oz / 215g) won’t add too much weight to your head. All of these make TROND TD-BH01 a perfect pair of wireless headphones for long hours of gaming or watching TV
- NO AUDIO LAG FOR WATCHING TV. With latest CSR 64215 Bluetooth V4.2 chipset, TROND TD-BH01 is one of the few TV wireless headphones which truly support the codec of aptX Low Latency and greatly reduce the audio latency to approx. 30~40ms. You can now watch TV shows or videos without any noticeable audio lag. You will need one ADDITIONAL Bluetooth transmitter, such as TROND BT-DUO series, in order to connect to your TV and to completely avoid any lip-sync issues
- CODEC LED INDICATORS. For most Bluetooth transmitters or wireless headphones, customers usually don’t know which codec is active after pairing. Even worse, some brands falsely advertise the concept of low latency, whereas their devices don’t support aptX Low Latency. TROND TD-BH01 reveals the truth to you, by displaying different indicators for different codec

Product Description
Product Overview
TROND TD-BH01 adopts the most premium chipset of CSR 64215, and is one of the few Bluetooth V4.2 headphones in the market which can truly support the codec of aptX Low Latency (simplified as aptX LL).
It offers easy & fast pairing with smart phones/tablets/PCs, and allows you to enjoy aptX high-fidelity sound with brilliant treble, smooth mid-ranges, and deep bass. Or you could connect it to a separate Bluetooth transmitter, and watch late TV night shows without disturbing your family members. In order to avoid any potential audio lag, your Bluetooth transmitter needs to support aptX LL as well.
Important Remarks. Please Read!
- TROND TD-BH01 is not a pair of 2.4G RF wireless headphones. You do need to order an additional Bluetooth transmitter (such as TROND BT-DUO series) in order to stream your TV audio out to the headphones;
- TROND TD-BH01 delivers bass-rich sound. For those who prefer classic music genres, these headphones may not meet your expectations;
- For online gaming, you can't use Bluetooth stereo and microphone at the same time, as it doesn't support Fast Stream codec. Meanwhile, SONY PS3/PS4 doesn't send game audio through Bluetooth, and only voice chatter could go through. That's the restrictions of SONY PS3/PS4 itself;
- If these headphones get stuck and all the buttons are not responsive, please press and hold the power switch and Volume + button simultaneously to force down the headphones;
- If you experience the intermittent audio, please reset the headphones (ONLY in the standby mode) by holding both Volume + and Volume – buttons for 5 seconds to delete the previous pairing record. Then restart your phone/tablet and make the pairing once again.

Bad Luck in Pairing with Bluetooth Transmitter?
We understand that it's quite complicated to pair headphones with Bluetooth transmitter, as the latter doesn't have the screen for you to search for the headphones and make the pairing.
How to Pair? Please disconnect these headphones from your smartphones or tablets. Then closely follow the transmitter user manual and activate its pairing mode. Activate the headphone pairing mode as well and wait for the pairing to be completed.
How to Re-Pair? Please simply power on your transmitter FIRST and then these headphones and wait for the auto re-pairing. Please DO NOT re-activate the pairing modes of both two devices.
Noticeable Audio Lag? Please verify with your transmitter manufacturer which codec it could truly support. You may also check the LED status of these headphones to find out which codec is in place.

Both pairs have broken in the headband where it clips into adjustable the metal band. They both broke in this manner probably after about 6+ months of heavy use, but I was able to get another 6+ months by taping the weak spot. However, eventually the headphones did totally fall apart. Build quality is not that bad, but the materials are too weak to hold up over time with very heavy use. I expect my backup set to also fail within the next few months, but I like these headphones so much that I will just bite the bullet and buy another pair. Hopefully I can figure out a way to more permanently reinforce them this time so that they don't completely fall apart to the point of becoming unusable.
UPDATE 10/01/2020:
I've been using these headphones every day for 8 or more hours since 02/2020. I'm still absolutely blown away and in love with these headphones. In fact, after 6 months of such heavy usage, I can without hesitation say that these are my favorite headphones of all time. They constantly put a smile on my face whenever I listen to music (though only with Bass Boost turned off --- see the full review for more details). The battery life remains absolutely phenomenal --- I've even left them powered on accidentally several times when going to bed, and when I woke up in the morning and they were still going strong. The headphones are so exceptionally lightweight and comfortable to wear (at least on my head) for hours and hours on end. Most of the $300+ headphones I've owned don't even come close to how comfortable these are for me. When I look at the exceptional battery life, unmatched comfort, AptX-LL support, but most importantly the immense aural pleasure these bring to my ears, I just can't recommend these enough and the $60 price tag really makes these such an incredible value for recreational use. The headphones don't have a "neutral" sound signature --- they are noticeably heavy on the mids and bass --- so I don't think I would consider these for serious studio mixing/monitoring without significant equalization adjustments; but that's exactly what makes them so much fun for casual listening and gaming! To my ears at least, (with Bass Boost disabled) these headphones make every song I listen to sound like absolute candy for the brain. The headphones convey an exceptional level of clarity and the balance on these drivers is just so smooth and pleasing to the ear. They make every high quality recording sound amazing (though I definitely noticed the line noise in the source material when listening to lower quality demo recordings; that is not a bad thing though, as it is a testament to the level of clarity that these headphones will offer you!)
FULL ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I've always been a "headphones guy," generally preferring headphones over speakers for the greater portability, respectfulness towards those around me, privacy, and bang-for-the-buck sound quality. I've owned many, many pairs of quality headphones across a wide range of pricepoints, from $30 Koss PortaPro to $350 Sennheiser HD650.
I like these Trond headphones. A lot. I might even wager that they could qualify as best in class (that is, the class of "aptX-LL bluetooth headphones with good battery life for under $100"). But as a disclaimer, there really aren't that many options on the market in this class.
The sound profile is way too bass-heavy for listening to music when the bass boost feature is enabled, at least to my taste; but I find them quite pleasing with bass boost disabled for listening to music. I don't have a spectrum analysis or anything particularly scientific, but based on the smile that these headphones put on my face, my opinion is that they really shine in the midrange, but still have plenty of bass. I haven't heard anything with these headphones that sounds "harsh/shrill" but there's still enough high and mid range to avoid sounding "muddy."
The most important feature of these headphones by far, however, is the aptX-LL support. There are very few Bluetooth headphones on the market that support aptX low latency --- this is an absolute "must have" feature for gaming, and a very nice feature for watching movies. It's also really great that the power LED actually indicates by color what codec is currently in use! I knew right away from the blue and red LED when I connected to my Windows 10 laptop via Bluetooth that I was only getting aptX, so I connected to a Creative BT-W2 dongle instead and voila, green and blue = aptX-LL.
There's really only one major downside to these, and it's that they appear to suffer from severe quality control issues. The first headphones that I received wouldn't power on at all or charge properly... DOA, no choice but to return them. The replacement I received seems to have some weird "interference" issues that sounds like it might be poor shielding on the internals (but it doesn't bother me that much and is really only noticeable when there's not much audio coming through, so I kept them for use at home for gaming rather than roll the dice on another replacement pair).
After using for a few weeks and being pleased with the quality and long-lasting battery life, I decided to order an additional pair for use at work listening to music / watching training videos / etc, and this pair seems to be flawless... third time's a charm! They powered on without issue, charge fine, battery life is good, and strange static sounds from poor shielding or whatever else is causing that on my other pair.
Overall, would I recommend these to anyone for $60? Heck ya! Recommended for gaming, casual listening to music, and watching movies with close to zero latency. If you want the lowest possible latency, make sure that your source device supports aptX-LL --- not a lot of devices do --- you may need to purchase an add-on such as the Creative BT-W2 USB dongle or the Trond BT-DUO transceiver.
2 MONTH UPDATE: Honestly, I think I can say that these are now my favorite headphones of all time. AptX-LL is such a great codec, the LED indicator showing which codec is in use is super handy for troubleshooting, the sound is so pleasing to the ears and the battery life is phenomenal. The $60 pricetag is an absolute steal for what you get. Also, it seems that the strange "static" artifacts I was hearing were caused by the Trond BT-DUO transceiver I was using and was not an issue with the headphones themselves, as when I switched to the Creative BT-W2 transceiver the sound quality was nearly flawless with my "defective" pair. So really the only issue I had with these headphones was that my first pair was DOA. Do yourself a favor if you're still reading this review trying to decide if you should buy these or not, and just click Buy It Now. I think it may well be the most enjoyable $60 (or less) that you've ever spent.
UPDATE 06/04/2020: I've been using these nearly every day for half a year, and I came back to leave a few extra comments as I'm really blown away. These headphones are extremely light and comfy — I really forget I'm wearing them. More impressive however is that the battery life is phenomenal! I use these every day for ~8 hours and I rarely need to charge them (it seems like I hear the "low battery" beeps about once every 2 weeks, but that's insane, it's gotta be more often than that!) However often it is that I need to charge these, it's rare enough that I can't keep track. It's a shame that these are currently unavailable and I hope they return to market. If not, I'm very glad that I purchased a second pair while I had the chance!
headphones. The new ones work fine.
So I waited a couple of weeks of good use before I decided to post this review and this
gave me a bit of time to feel them out. I use them at work as I am a RV Solar Tech and I have my head in
all sorts of bays and compartments while working.
First, lets get the most obvious issue out of the way.
These cans are very bass heavy. So much so, that if I did not have a way to lower the bass they would have
been unusable to me. But thankfully, I use one of the best music apps ever made called PowerAmp.
And it has an ability to do real eq adjustments, even down to the song level, I.E. I can adjust a eq setting for
every song I have if I wanted to. I honestly had to turn down the 60hz to 250hz almost all the way down
to get these to balance out. The bad thing is though, I cannot watch Youtube video's with these as they revert
back to the regular sound quality outside my music player. The sound is just terrible. Base is too heavy and the highs
are almost gone. Thankfully, I did not buy these for that, but it is sad that I can't enjoy them all around.
In comparison, I have a beautiful set of Japanese Sony V-6's that are very much a neutral set of cans, and on
those I have the eq set almost completely neutral on the eq settings and they sound awesome.
But now that I have them balanced out they are actually beautiful sounding cans. In fact. The low end
on these things are so amazing that I hear things in that range I have never heard before. They really do have a
very nice tight sound to them, it's like having a Sub Woofer right next to you.
The highs on the other hand had to be boosted almost to peak to get right. Particularly on the 4K
to 16K range. Again, this is due very much to them being so bass heavy. Once the eq is set right for these,
they really shine. There not as sharp as my Sony V-6's, but then, I don't want to listen to my Sony's for 8 hours
straight. I like the softer sound these put out as they are a bit easier on the ears.
These are very light weight and they have just enough pull on the band to keep them from going anywhere
while working. And I work with my head upside down, in cupboards, RV bays and all sorts of places, and they
stay put without moving around. But also don't give me ear aches from wearing them so long.
They have good sound isolation and do a good job of keeping noise (within limits) from getting through.
They are not noise cancelling, but just do a good job of keeping noise out.
The appearance is pleasant and subtle in it's layout with it being all black with the light red ring around the cans.
Call quality is sub par. People can hear me well, but they sound canned and hollow.
So those are the most obvious things. Now lets talk about the less obvious things.
The buttons. I would say, this is probably the worst part of these headphones. The buttons
are (left side) Power, Volume up, Volume down, (right side) Track forward, Pause, Track Back.
The buttons are one continues row of buttons from front to back with no indents between them to
tell them apart. The only way to tell what button your pushing is by the little bumps on certain buttons.
This, sadly does not work to help in differentiating from one another because they are so close together.
Their really needs to be some gap between the buttons to make it easier to tell which button your pressing.
I find I have to remove them to pause because it takes too long to find the middle buttons.
These would be much much better if they used a set of round buttons where you could tell which button
your pressing just by feel.
Bluetooth distance is very good if unhindered. I actually walked out of the building, walked 20 feet out of the
parking lot and all the way across the street before they started cutting out. And they actually did not disconnect
even after walking another 20 feet and going into a steel container to get some supplies. When I walked back to
where they had stopped playing, they started playing again. But if you get a metal wall between you and your
source, all bets are off.
I have only found two issues with my set of headphones.
One is the Aptx sound codec. These are supposed to use this codec when available and it is available
on my phone. But I find that 90 percent of the time, these are not hooking up with that codec. The other
10 percent it does but sporadically. You can tell what codec it's using by looking at the little light. Blue is
regular, Purple is Aptx and then there is the Low Latency Aptx but I can't remember what color that is.
Most of the time my set is blue. I have checked my phone and it's still set to Aptx.
This brings me to the other issue I am having with my headphones. When I turn them on and start playing
music, during the first song, I get noticeable clicking sounds ( sound gaps, clicking noise).
This only happens after turning them on and pairing. Once I have been playing them they run like normal.
My final thoughts,
After getting the eq settings right, these things have freaking phenomenal sound
and I have found myself laughing sometimes at how freaking awesome songs sound. I even went back and forth
between the cord and bluetooth and the bluetooth sounds way better. It's a fuller sound, and has more depth
and a wider sound stage. Although it would be nice to get a set that did not click or would run in Aptx all the time
and it would be great if Trond read this and took a look at these issues, I am fully satisfied with my purchase.
Now if I was using these for TV then it would be a different issue. But for me, it's just music and most of my music
is not Aptx quality anyway. To be honest, I cannot tell the difference between when it's using Aptx and when it's not.
Top reviews from other countries
The headset arrived in a hard case and the product quality is impressive. Protein ear sponges adds premium quality and the plastic used looks sturdy and not like any other product in the same price range as my colleagues got few other brands in this same price, but TROND looks premium.
Sound quality is to die for as a double tab on power button activated the bass feature and I’m able to kill extra minutes in gym due to the crispy delivery of sound.
Batter life is huge as I use 3 to 4 hours daily whilst the battery lasted for more than three weeks for me. It differs from person to person, but I used the headset with max volume and with bass feature on.
Indeed the customer service team is always available for any doubts related to the product and overall I’m a happy TROND customer now.
Reviews here suggested this transmitter/receiver would meet my needs and it seemed likely that the Trond Wireless Bluetooth V4.2 Over Ear Headphones would be compatible, so I bought these too. Being a little hard of hearing, this device enables me to listen to the tv using wireless headphones while at the same time my wife can listen with the inbuilt tv speakers.
Setting up was not easy for me but Trond Customer Support were very willing and helped me to work out what needed to be done. Pairing of the transmitter and headphones is straightforward. The transmitter is then connected to the TV headphone socket using the 3.5mm audio lead. I understand this set up is peculiar to Sony TVs so it might be different for other TV makes.
The headphones are light, comfortable and the sound quality is very good but the volume controls are a bit fiddly. That said there are absolutely no lip sync issues. Overall, a practical and very good value for money buy. Highly recommended.

ETA 2 - I wonder how much the APTX-LL codec affects the sound, there's very little to nothing available rigorously comparing it (measurements and listening) with the various others. If writing a one with low latency was easy everyone would have done so by now but this is the ONLY one around (Sony have their own, but evidently low latency was beyond even them) even after all these years. The bit-rate is similar to others but it's well known that, for e.g., AAC is an order of magnitude better than the much older SBC (the only one mandatory for bluetooth).
It's great being able to watch video/movies with no obvious delay, but with concert/music videos and music generally they make the similarly cheap Sony WH-CH510's I relegated to music only (typical SBC lag) sound 'audiophile' (which they're most definitely not!), and sometimes even dialogue can be hard to follow, particularly where the actors are in an echoey/reverberant space.
Ergonomics are poor - buttons are in contiguous rectangular blocks (three each side) and even after you've memorised which are which it's VERY difficult to operate them by feel (which is with your thumbs). Why they didn't use separate stud-type buttons is baffling.
The L and R markings are positioned where they're difficult to see, especially in low light, they should be higher up on the head band.
EDIT: I emailed Trond and described what happened and how a minor accident completely destroyed my otherwise working headphone. They responded the next morning and within two days of my complaint I received a brand new replacement pair. No quibble. I didn't even have to return the old pair. Needless to say I'm happy again.
