On my NES, I had been receiving the blinking lockout screen, and experiencing load problems due to the original cartridge slot failure. No amount of cleaning of the cartridges themselves (alcohol, Deoxit, light sanding) and the cartridge slot inside the unit seemed to completely help. It still took many tries to get a game to load. It took about 15 minutes to take the old one out and replace with this. Yes it *is* tight to wiggle games in and out, but every (cleaned) game I've used has worked first time. I expect this to ease up over time. I did this and also cut the lockout pin previously. With both of these done, now it's pretty much load and go.

Very tight, no signs the pins have been restored manually so likely new manufacture. I refurbed my original 72pin alongside breaking pin 4 of the lockout chip (gets rid of the red blinking light) and got half my games working. Got a cartridge tool to open the games and polished the pens with a pencil eraser and alcohol (classic refurb for carts). Finally I had a stack of about 10 games that were hit or miss and 30 which worked more or less all the time. This showed up and I went ahead and replaced, that reduced my broken carts down to just 2 which I think are just too worn out.

I bought this because the original 72-pin connector in my NES had some wear and tear, and no longer made good contact with the cartridges. This replacement part was stiff, difficult to connect to the NES motherboard, and once the machine was reassembled, the cartridges wouldn't make a connection with the pin connectors. While disassembled, I was able to manually position the cart to make a connection, but it was impossible to play in this state. Ultimately, I got my old pin connector fixed and reinstalled it in my NES deck.

The fit when putting a game in is super tight... it actually pulled the guts out of my SuperMario Bro's game while i was trying to pull it back out of the NES. Some games work.. however i still have flashing, scattered screens etc. I do have a game genie.. and with that installed almost all my games work thru that. So its better than it was.

The new 72 pin cartridge fixed the blinking red light problem on most games, but the connector is very tight. We have to use pliers to remove the game from the console. Overall it fixed the problem and we can now play most if not all the games.

It's working great so far, always try your cart before depressing it, you don't want to damage your pins

Works but Tempermental with quite a few games
Reviewed in Canada on April 30, 2020Color: Original VersionVerified Purchase
Very odd , the piece came with a bent pin in the middle not sure if this was a revised part over the years as it seems to be where the games lines up in the Center , my biggest issue is it plays one or two games quite flawlessly albeit I did clean and refurbish the whole Nintendo but the other games load but no video shows up so I’m a bit apprehensive to send it back as it works but only for about 20% of my collection .
I’d either like one at a discount if I purchase another or maybe another one sent for free to swap out .

These are well constructed but some games fit very tightly ...
Reviewed in Canada on January 28, 2015Color: Original VersionVerified Purchase
These are well constructed but some games fit very tightly and require excess effort to remove. Some games still do not work well without being repositioned, but could be the cartridge contacts and not the 72-pin connector at fault.
