    I bought this for a new system I built and wanted something solid and reliable and have had good results with ASUS before. However, I had concerns about its compatibility with Linux. Linux seems to Just work with most hardware these days, but you never know with a new generation of product like the X299 chipset and i9 processors.

    I need not have worried. This motherboard works perfectly with Linux and the existing video card ( Radeon HD 6870 ) I moved from my old system. The onboard sound works fine. I also just moved my 3 hard drives from the old machine and everything just booted up to Fedora 27 without the slightest hitch. Performance is exceptional and I have not even started tinkering with the overclocking.

    I highly recommend this motherboard.
