TV Ears Digital
Wireless Voice Clarifying TV Headset.
Doctor Recommended TV Ears has helped millions of people hear television dialog clearly while eliminating complaints about loud volume or the need to buy expensive hearing aids. Put on your TV Ears and turn them up as loud as you want while others listen to the television at a comfortable volume. You can even put the TV on mute and listen through the headset only. Others in the room won’t hear a thing but we guarantee you will. Imagine watching television with your family again without fighting over the TV volume or listening in private while a loved one sleeps or reads.
Unique Patented Technology
Voice Clarifying Circuitry:
TV Ears products contain our proprietary Voice Clarifying Circuitry that automatically adjusts the audio curve to increase the clarity of television dialog while decreasing the volume of background sounds such as music and sound effects. The words seem to jump out of the audio track, making even whispers and accents understandable.
Speed of Light Infrared Technology (SoLIT):
TV Ears transmitters use Speed of Light Infrared Technology to send the television's audio to the headset and unlike slower Bluetooth or (RF) Radio Frequency, SoLIT doesn’t need to be paired or adjusted, is completely safe with pacemakers and will not interfere with your telephone.

Then, I have decided to upgrade to T.V. Ears 5.0 after reading about their speech clarification circuitry. When they arrived, I noticed that the ear tips were tilted 60 degrees away from the perpendicular to the arm, mounted on a base that rotated 180 degrees. Whoever designed them that way should have their head examined, because no matter how I turned them, I could not find a comfortable fit. After using them for half an hour, my ears were sore from improper fit. I have returned them the next day. and as always, Amazon took care of it promptly.
Now, I am back to using T.V. Ears 3.0. They still perform decently and they don't give me sore ears. I guess, I will continue using them, until I find a similar product that provides some adjustable enhancement at higher frequencies, and fits properly.
Normally we'd have purchased these from Amazon, but we got an email from TV Ears directly with a great offer on the new 5.0 digital system so unfortunately went with that instead. While the 5.0 system was at least compatible with our new TV, the new headset design is much less comfortable than the old one AND the headset we received was defective, with sound in only one ear. After a couple of phone calls, the TV Ears folks finally agreed to exchange it for one that works (although it's still not as comfortable and the battery charge doesn't last as long), but would not cover the return postage.
So if you're hard of hearing, TV Ears may still be worth the trouble, because they do amplify the sound when they're working. Keep in mind, though, that when they say the warranty is limited they are not kidding. If you want to take a chance on them, I would recommend going through Amazon for the better return service if you can find the product you need here.
Update, a few months later: I take back what I said about TV Ears possibly being worth the trouble. That seems increasingly unlikely based on our experience, especially with the digital variety. The battery life continues to decline, and one side of the headset has come loose so that it needs to be held together with tape, after less than a year of use. There was a time when TV Ears made a reliable product that worked, and that may still be true if you can use the old analog version, but the quality has deteriorated badly since they've gone to the newer digital models. We are looking for an alternative.
Also, every time I turn on the television I get electronic gibberish through the head phone. This is corrected by pulling the power source and re-attaching it or doing the same thing with the fiber optic cable from the television to the TV Ears device. I have no desire to go through that routine every time I want to watch television. Was this Amazon's fault also?
This is not an inexpensive device and it ought to work after making a few simple connections with little fuss. I will return it.
