To provide optimal fit and performance for your specific vehicle, each TYC replacement mirror is identical in design and construction to the OE part it replaces. TYC replacement mirrors meet all Federal SAE/DOT regulations and are FMVSS 111 compliant. TYC mirrors are extensively tested against common issues affecting replacement mirrors, such as excessive glass vibration on rough roads, to ensue years of hassle-free service.

I can't speak to the durability or core quality of the TYC part, but it does appear to be well made. It fit perfectly in place of the original part.
The original cap was still in good condition, so I tried re-using it with the TYC mirror housing. It did snap into place, but fits somewhat poorly. so eventually I plan to paint the TYC cap and use it instead.
A couple of tips. Have a deep, 6-point, 10mm socket wrench handy for removing the three retaining nuts. On my wife's car, these nuts were VERY tight. At first, I tried using a crescent wrench. This was a mistake, as it slipped and started to chew them up.
Also, unplugging the wiring requires pressing a release tab on top of the assembly. The same tab has to be pressed again when plugging the wiring into the new mirror or the plug won't seat.
Cons: I had previously purchased this product in the passenger's side model a couple of years ago (I'm rough on my mirrors, apparently); the glass in this newer driver's side model vibrates a lot more than the passenger's side model does. The passenger's side model that I purchased a couple of years ago did not come with a "skullcap." In order to obtain a "skullcap," you have to purchase an OEM part, and regardless of what vendor you get it from, it only comes in primer gray injection molded plastic, so you have to spray paint it. I tried to contact TYC directly to see if they would sell me a "skullcap" in black. I could find no contact information for the manufacturer; just contact information for vendors, and the vendors said they do not sell the "skullcaps" individually in black. The problem with this is that spray paint wears off and fades at a different rate than plastic. While I realize this is just a problem of aesthetic and not function, it is still a problem.
Also, I reused the cover from the broken mirror so I didn't have to paint the new one. It does not fit 100% perfect but no one will notice. This is the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Make sure to cover the hole under where you remove the 3 nuts from the mirror assembly so they don't fall down into the door. I used duct tape.
