Update : The sharp steel edge (under side holders/grips) resulted in a cut on my finger while washing the cooker.
Very bad quality cooker. The lid doesn't fit right and it lets out the steam due to which idly is not cooked at all. The batter remains wet and the idly turns out either very hard (uncooked) or burnt. Steel quality is very bad. The plates are very thin and don't hold together well. Wasted almost 45 minutes in trying to make a single batch with no results at all.

The lid of the cooker is a nightmare to open

I ordered this cooker thinking it is a complete idli making vessel but soon after my first idli making session I realized it was a huge task to open the lid after making the idlis cos it got so tightly locked with the steam inside and just wouldn't open. Moreover, it is dangerous to even try and open it with force as there is hot boiling water inside the vessel.
Ever since, I have stopped using the lid of the vessel and just use the bottom part of the vessel with a standard lid cover of a regular pot (pic attached) and it works great. The idlis need only 10-12mins to steam and they come out soft irrespective.
My two cents- It is a better idea just to buy the idli stand separately, which you will find at half the price and use it with your standard large and wide stockpot/ dutch oven already at home as this vessel is pretty low quality too.

This is one of the worst designs and very hard to use. It came with one of the handle plastic broken and its so difficult to open the lid after cooking Idlis. Also, the base of Idli plates is so uneven. Amazon should consider removing this product from teh list. Use it at your own headache each and every single time you use it

The lids were loose (not tight fitting) and would pop off as the steam built up. Idli needs pressurized steam to cook so I had to hold the lids on while cooking. I bought two pots and threw them both away after one use. I have the butterfly cooker and it works great. Very poor quality and not usable.
