Product Description
Excellent for apples or grapes, this extremely well-built 1.25 gallon press is great for smaller production quantities. The press includes an anti-rotation plate that can be screwed to your choice of surfaces; one handy approach is to screw the plate to a small sheet of plywood which can then easily be clamped to your table or other support. After the anti-rotation plate is fastened down, the main press assembly can be lifted out and replaced in a moment. After a pressing cycle, the stainless side rods flex apart at top to allow the assembly of screw yoke, forcing screw and pressing plate to be lifted out for removal of the spent apple pomace.
The tabletop press is also perfect for making nut milk including almond milk, soy milk, rice milk and coconut milk, as well as squeezing honey from the comb.
All parts of the Tabletop press are constructed of heavy gauge (.035") 304 grade stainles steel. The pressing basket measures 5-3/4" x 11-1/8" high, and the pressing plate measures 5.5" diameter. Overall height of the press with the pressing screw turned down is 15", and the base plate measures 7-3/4" x 7-3/4". Handle length is 9-3/4".
The press includes a fine-mesh, food-grade nylon pressing bag that contains mash even under very high pressure. A 5/8" x 8-3/4" drain tube attaches to the drain spout of the juice tray.
If you ever want to press only a very small quantity of your product at a time, you can do that with this press because when fully turned down, the pressing plate reaches all the way to the pan, leaving zero gap.
It's important to keep the forcing screw well lubricated with food safe grease; this greatly reduces wear and turning effort, and dramatically increases maximum pressure and juice yield.
Mounting screws for the anti-rotation plate are not included.

I use a centrifugal juicer for vegetable juice: celery, carrots, cucumber, etc. It is by far easy to use than the press. But the centrifugal juicers are not very efficient, and can leave a significant share of juice in the pulp. Enter the press. I fed the pulp from my centrifugal juicer into this press, and was able to recover a significant amount of juice, that would have otherwise been lost to the pulp. I think a good estimate would be about 20-25% extra yield, which I think is fantastic.
Cons:
It does take time to setup. I built a stabilizer out of wood and a clamp as is recommended in the instructions.
It takes some time clean. Juice in big quantities.
The hose that drains the juice into a storage vessel is too short. It is about a foot long. That is impractical and takes some time to position your bucket/pot/pitcher just right so that the short hose pours directly into it. I ended up putting a pot on a stool and sliding the stool next to my counter to catch the juice. I think I will go to the hardware store and buy a 3 foot hose, so I can juice and not have to worry about the hose missing the pot and pouring on the floor.
Overall it is a good product.
We did learn one thing the hard way. The juice SQUIRTS out of the holes, at high speed. This should have been obvious to us, given the design, but we greatly underestimated the range it has. Juice was squirting over 10 feet away from the press as we smashed our way down through crushing fruit. There is, an extremely easy solution however that we would love to share. Take a gallon-size plastic bag, slit the bottom, and carefully slide it over the canister - but under the vertical posts, so that the posts hold it in place. Once you do this, you can tuck the bag into the white catch-basin, and all juice ends up where it's supposed to be instead of on yourself, the floor, the walls, and the table.
Truly, we don't see this as a design flaw - but rather something that might be shared as a helpful tip. We LOVE our press, and are very pleased with the purchase! Just beware that if you don't cover the canister in some way, you'll be wearing half the juice you press.
On its own, it is hard to hold the press and turn the last rounds of pressing. I first tried putting clamps on either side of the press to hold it still on a counter. That was better, but you have to position the clamps just so.
Best was to make a jig that holds the base plate, then clamp that. The jig is three boards screwed in a u-shape, with half circles carved into the parallel sides to hold the feet of the press base plate.
My cider production line:
- Quarter apples, no worries about cores, insect damage
- Run them through a food processor to mush stage
- Press
- Filter out any apple bits by pouring through a sieve into a stock pot
- Pasteurize at 165 degrees
- Can for 10 min or freeze

Getting the T-bar into the holding contraption is a real pain most every time I do it, and I end up cussing a little then it goes in finally. It's hard to do even with the thing empty - I don't know why. There needs to be just a little more wiggle room at the top of the steel strainer. Also, no tips/instructions/care info was sent at all. The small bit of hose that attaches to the spout (approx 6 inches long) could be longer, like a couple of feet longer so that the pan will drain into a bucket on the floor. I mean, this is a tabletop press - how are you supposed to drain it with a six inch hose? I ended up putting the press on top of a small one gallon bucket and placing the drain hose into a container on the counter top beside the bucket. That made the handle awfully tall to start out.
Pros: small, all stainless steel except the collection pan, comes with a great and so far durable nylon mesh bag,
Cons: small (if you want to do a lot), aggravating to get t-bar into place
placed a small metal washer in each of the holes, on the base, to prevent the screw from going thru the plastic (as it is thinner than the base itself). I was worried that the top, catch base, would pop out of the main base holes but it stayed
in the holes very sturdy. In addition we received, in box, food grade grease, for the fine thread shaft, instruction sheet, a splash/squirt cover, a fine mesh bag and It arrived undamaged. Next I will do some herbal tincture pressing, this press will get a lot of use in our kitchen.
