Basically this is a really nicely done light that I don't have a way to test the 900lm output but I do know it shines bright.

While you cannot or shouldn't submerge the light it'll stand up to some abuse away from and around water.

Several lighting functions (5 total) and very simple to switch between each.

The ability to use a rechargeable battery or AAA batteries is a nice option.

This is a rugged, well-made, powerful flashlight that is powered by 3 AAA batteries or one 18650 battery, neither of which are supplied. 5.5"x1.5", 6.2 ozs, it may be a little more than you want to carry for extended periods in your pocket, but it fits nicely in a purse, backpack, and the glove compartment of a car. It would be nice if there were a belt case for this flashlight

The bulb is a LED so the batteries should last for a long time. LED bulbs are very energy efficient.

The light will use 3 different types of batteries, not just 2 as advertised:

a. AAA - Inside the light when you get it will be a plastic tube with an insert inside it with spaces for 3 AAA batteries. If that is what you are going to use, put them in the insert, put the insert in the plastic tube, and put everything back in the flashlight.

b. 18650 - If you are going to use an 18650 battery, remove the insert for the AAA batteries, put the 18650 battery in the plastic tube and put it in the flashlight. The tube will keep the battery from rolling around inside the flashlight.

c. 26650 - The 26650 is the same diameter as the plastic tube, so you just put the battery in the flashlight.

I'm using a 5000 mAh 26650 battery because he gives me more hours of use than does the 3500 mAh 18650.

There are 5 light options: bright, medium, dim, flashing and SOS.

To turn on the flashlight, you give the button at the end of the handle a hard press. The first light is the brightest. Give the button a softer press and the light changes to medium. Another soft press and the light changes to medium, another soft press and it changes to flashing, another soft and changes to SOS.Read more ›

Outlite 878 2K Lm Cree XML-T6 B00S299C8W

The Outlite 878 is a 2000Lm flashlight built around the Cree XML-T6 and has several different luminance display modes. The heel button changes the modes with a half or light press toggling through three bright levels and two flash modes, strobe and "SOS".

The 878 is shipped with a "cage" that will hold 3 AAA batteries. This can be substituted with an 18650 Lithium-ion rechargeable battery which is not included. It is difficult to say how long the light will illuminate because of the nature of batteries. And not all batteries are created equal. With the worst performing 18650 battery I would expect this light to illuminate on High for at least 6 hours, Low for 12, and pulse modes longer.

At full dispursion this will project roughly a four foot bright circle around your feet depending on how far your hand dangles from the pavement. Focused to a narrow beam It illuminated sufficiently to see person and animal at 4 blocks. Reflective stop signs were highly visible a half mile away. I could probably noticed illuminated reflective signage further but the terrain did not have that distant of a line of sight. I am impressed. If you are out for a walk with the dog, or out to bungle in the jungle. This is a very nice addition to reduce the toe stubbing dark to fleeing shadows.

I love this little flashlight. For being so small and only using 3 AAA batteries (or one 18650), it really does well. It illuminates fantastically. This particular flashlight has 5 different settings: high beam (which I think most people will use primarily), medium beam, low beams, strobe, and SOS. To switch between modes you can either turn switch on and off to get to the next one, OR just gently press the on off button to switch between them while the flashlight remains on. It also has and adjustment to make the beam wide or narrow by pulling the front part out or pushing back in. The housing is all metal and it has a wrist strap. It feels solid and like it could hold up to a lot of punishment.

Edit 10/12/16 - I still use this frequently when I walk in the early morning. Works great.

This flashlight is a bright, single LED flashlight that is a little different than many of the others I have seen and used. It is a little shorter and it has a better grip. It is also a little more narrow inside so batteries fit differently.

Like a lot of flashlights in its class it is a 900-lumen flashlight that is bright enough to be blinding. It has the same typical modes of operation as most others: bright, medium, dim, strobe and SOS. Cycling through the modes requires touching the power button without pushing it all the way in which is also standard.

The beam can be focused to a tight square of bright light or broadened to a wide but less bright circle.

This flashlight comes with an adapter to allow it to work with three AAA batteries. It can take an 18650 battery as well, but it is narrow enough inside the barrel that it does not need the plastic sleeve that comes with many other flashlights – in fact, the sleeve is too big to fit.

Where this flashlight is most different from the typical crop of LED flashlights is in the design of the barrel. It has a grip handle that is very easy to hold and makes it very unlikely that the flashlight would slip from your hand, even if your hand is wet. This makes this flashlight a good bet if you are looking for a camping flashlight.

It's priced nicely too, though I would have liked to have seen a battery come with it.

This is a nice flashlight that works very well. It's bright, it's well made and it is affordable.
