I'm very happy with this purchase. To start, the bag itself is excellent - very high quality and distributes the weight very well. The carry handle as well as backpack straps give you options, and the pockets and compartments are well thought out.

As for the contents, it's a start. The basic medical supplies are adequate, but contain no types of medication - aspirin, anti-diarrheals etc. But that's ok, as those type of supplies expire, and need to be rotated anyway. The emergency supplies are decent quality as well. I read one review that the flashlight was cheap, but mine came with a Maglite, Duracell batteries and extra bulbs. I haven't tried the food or water, and in all sincerity, I hope I never have to... or ever have to use this purchase at all.But it's nice knowing it's there.

Update - I wanted to purchase some additional MRE's, and if you have ever looked for them online, you know it can be confusing and a total crapshoot in terms of freshness and quality. I decided to try one of the MRE's that came with this bag from MRE Star. All I can say is that it was really much better then I had anticipated. It had the entree, nuts, dried fruit, beverage, condiment and accessory pack and the cookies that came with it were really quite good. It also had the flameless heater.

The kit is bare essentials, but enough to last the 72 hours, probably more is used sensibly. I went to Walmart and added a few extras that completed the kit to my satisfaction, but the food stuffs and water they include are great! I am happy with it, the bag is superb quality, sturdy and functional with lots of pockets inside to organize stuff. The bag alone is probably worth $75.00 alone in most places. (atleast here in Canada it would be!)

The box was delivered, popped it open and what a suprise! I own some 5-11 gear, and Maxpedition also. I needed another bag to keep in a vehicle so rather than stocking my own I got lazy and ordered this bag. A lot of leg work would be required to put the same items in this bag. Dollar for dollar it will save you money in terms of time invested or if you never have built a bag before. The basics are there, all you need is to add a few items and it's good to go.
The bag is quality enough to get the job done with room to spare (not a cheap lightweight bag) with compartments enough to organize all the items to access quickly. Three grab handles make this bag easy to grab and go. Overall a robust bag in its price range.
The contents of the bag are broke down into ziplock bags, waterproof already or shall we say semi-waterproof knowing the nature of a zip lock bag and abrasion taking place inside a bag being used. But enough bags to collect another 4 gallons of water if needed.
The food is fresh and not out of date so lots of months before restocking. The other items are the same, not top shelf but enough to do the job at a reasonable cost.
To sum it up this is one item you don't feel like you spent your money for nothing. I took a shot and feel I did not get ripped off at the drive thru. Plus it is a Veteran owned company and that still means something to me. If you don't have a bag, save your pennies and order this one. It will get you by, add a personal first aid kit and some shelter and it will do even more. Top it off with some personal protection, a good knife, clothes, and your personal information and the good news a small tent will fit inside the bag. So quite procrastinating and get you one! Great value!

First of all, the bag came a day early. I am very impressed with the bag itself. It's very well made and it has a lot of room for all the extras I am going to add. I am not saying that it does not come well stocked, its just everyone has their little extras which only you know you will need. For me I have animals which also a concern when packing my bugout bag. Glow sticks, more medical gear, knife and duct tape are just a few of the "extras" which I am adding to my bag.

Unlike some of the other reviews I read, I think the mini Maglite and the gloves are very good items. With that being said I have to say that I will also be adding another flashlight which is brighter for distance.

I will be adding more MRE's and water just to play it safe. The MRE's which come with the bag are a good product (but remember that MRE's are not fine dinning) and the meal bars are also a well rated product. Water and a water filter straw are also being added in my bag for me and my dogs.

This is what a bugout bag should be and it comes from an American Vet owned company. After looking for a long time I can truly say that this is the best bag for the money I have found. Get this and you will not be sorry.

I hope you never need it but if you do, this is what you want to start with.

Got this one in the mail a few days ago and have finally found the time to go through it.

First off - any survival kit needs to be customized to your specific needs and a bit of foresight for the more likely emergencies that you will face given your activities.

This kit is a great starter - The first thing I did was replace the flashlight and the gloves (both were too cheap). I then went to the hardware store to add stuff of my own.

The nicest thing about this kit is that the bag itself is REALLY high quality and even with all the equipment, has room for most other things you want to add to it.

I will probably end up getting another one of these to keep under my desk at work. (Let's face it - wherever you spend most of your time is the place you are most likely to face an emergency situation).
