Losing a love one is never easy but I would think back in that time it would have been harder with women not really working to not have a husband to provide for them. Posey is a very strong women there is no doubt she loved her husband very much. Time heals all with the healing it is time to move on and start over. If you are lucky enough to find love again you should grab it with both hands. This is something that Tad and Posey still have to learn.
The best kind of love is a love that grows from a friendship, nice and slow building over time leaving you wondering just when it happened. I related to this story since my husband and I started out this way. It was a pleasure watching their love grow but both are too afraid to come forward the pain of rejection is strong and feeling you are doing wrong by taking your best friends wife.
The pet goat adds so much to the story which I could relate to since I had a pet lamb a lot like Agnes. This bought back some great memories for me which I hold dear to my heart. I had to chuckle at Agnes and Nate and all they got into together. This was such an entertaining read that had me chuckling throughout. Grandma wasn’t in this story but her quilt sure was, what a lovely thing it was. These quilts have brought such meaning to a wonderful series.
The plot was great along with the characters. There is a lot going on from the death of a beloved friend and husband to the raising of his son, friendship, leaning, learning to go on, loving if only from afar. Nate is something else he just can’t seem to stay out of trouble. I have to smile at how his mother deals with each issue. I really wish I could have been more like her with my children. This is a wonderful clean romance that lightens your heart leaving you smiling as the story takes a few twists and turns. You are so going to love this series each book is just as good if not better than the last.
Theodore “Tad” Palmer left home at an early age and left for the west. He met up with John and Posey Jacobs, and they continued westward, looking out for each other, the men worked in the mines, and eventually, they settled in Baker City, Oregon. While John had the Limitless mine, Tad worked in town with his leather shop. Tad was a silent partner in the mine, and would occasionally run freight from the train to the mine for John. After a bad experience with a girl back home, Tad has vowed never to marry. Things change when you fall in love with the right woman.
A freak accident would alter the lives of Posey Jacobs and her infant son Nate, as well as a best family friend, Tad. Tad made a deathbed promise to John that he would take care of Posey and Nate. “Treasure my girl, Tad. Take care of her and Nate.”
With John’s assistance, Posey sells the mine, and she and Nate are doing fair on their homestead. She also quilts and tries to take care of the farm. Tad comes and does things around the farm, is “Uncle Tad” for Nate, and acts as a fatherly figure teaching Nate.
The plot will have two people who both value the friendship they have developing feelings for each other, but fear rejections and avoid exploring those feelings. Tad cares for Posey and loves Nate, but that was his best friends family. He experiences jealousy at the thought of another man courting Posey, but refuses to share his feelings with her. Posey loved John, but somewhere along the way, she has developed feelings for Tad. Will these two see what everyone else around them already sees? The story has a great cast of characters and funny animals too.
The only thing I didn't like was the story was to short. I would have loved to see more about their friends and family involved in the ending of the story. I guess I just hated to see this beautiful series end. I loved all the stories from the Prequel to Tad's Treasure. A big pat on the back to all the authors.
The day John died, Tad promised his best friend to take care of his wife, Posey, and son, Nate. However, he didn't realize how hard it would be to not fall in love even though he had vowed he would never marry. As years went by, Tad couldn't stop the love he felt, but he was determined to hide it.
Posey loved her husband and was broken hearted when he died, but after years of hard work and determination to stand on her own feet, she realized she had fallen in love with his best friend, Tad. With some flirting, some help from her friends (aka my favorite characters from the Baker City series), a precocious little boy, and his hysterical goat, Agnes, love prevails for this sweet family.
