The Translator: Aisha Abdurrahman at Tarjumana Bewley is one today s most prolific translators of classical Arabic work into English. Aisha Bewley not only understands Arabic but she is also aware of the basic meanings and nature of teachings and history of Islam. Her knowledge is born of experience and direct transmission, not merely academic theory and learning by rote. For more than twenty-five years she has been concerned with making the contents of many classical works in Arabic more Accessible to English-speaking readers for the first time, including Ash-Shifa of Qadi Iyad.

This is THE definitive tafsir (commentary of the Qur'an). The Qur'an, like the Bible, is not a book that can just be picked up and casually read. There's so much meaning behind every word and every verse. The commentary in this one makes it easy to understand as much as possible without actually knowing how to read Arabic or being a Qur'an scholar. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a better understanding of Islam and what the Qur'an says and why it says it.
I would highly recommend the Tafsir to everyone. It is not too long but at the same time gives a nice background and the context of the Ayats. The interpretation of the Ayats is also very well done. I was particularly happy to see that the interpretation of the Ayats was in bold letters while the background information and the author's own commentary (interspersed between the interpretation of the Ayats) was in normal (no bold) text. This makes it very easy to see what is directly attributed to the narrower interpretation of the Ayats and what is the author's own judgement regarding the broader explanation/context of the Ayats. The Tafsir comes highly recommneded by Sh. Hamza Yusuf in one of his lectures. I would recommend it very very highly.

Giving one star, for formatting - unable to see "BOLD/ITALIC" for Qur'an any more. All is coming in plain, hard to distinguish between Quran & Tafsir. Please FIX ASAP.
One of the best sunni tafsir. easy to read and concise. best translation into English Aisha Bewley. Best part of the book is - Quranic ayat's are in bold and tafsir in normal text - which makes it very easy to differentiated between tafsir and ayats. Great work!

The work of an eminent Islamic judge of the past Jalalu-Din Al Mahalli completed by his student, Jalalu-Din As-Sayuti. Hence the term Jalalayn meaning 'the two Jalal's'.
It is a translation and explanation (Tafsir) of the sacred book of Islam - the Holy Quran. It is all in one volume so accessible to the lay reader. I am not aware of any shortcomings in this work, except if you would like more detail then you need to choose another Tafsir work.
Alhamdulillah and thank you for this translation. One thing however is that it is quite a big and heavy book so I find it hard to easily take out and refer to. But I have enjoyed reading it and am grateful for the translation

Although I appreciate the contents. the Kindle version of this product was full of strange characters and was not edited well at all for the kindle format. on every single page there are words with strange characters in-between and some illegible. I was heavily disappointed by the lack of thought the kindle version was given.
