I admit that when I first got the book, I thought it was a bit light. I pondered whether there was going to be much substance, or was the author just scratching the surface.
Ms. Sanver doesn't waste any time. In fact, her years of experience and success show through. She knows her audience and breaks down the action steps into manageable bites.
As I read the book, it triggered several ideas I'd been working on and just started to prioritize. I certainly wouldn't have kept some of the tasks on the top of my list, if I hadn't read the book.
Ms. Sanver suggests an impaction homepage for a website. I was already thinking that our blog page, should be the homepage. Our website doesn't illustrate the impact we make on our community. As a result of reading this book, I'm dedicating making our on and offline materials leave a lasting impression.
Ok, I'm skeptical after reading the section on brochures. I was thinking to myself that we don't need to have print material. Print is out, we can have monitors showing videos at events; send links and pdf's with content. The following day, I received a request by a potential major donor to send them something by snail mail.
Yesterday, I received TWO print mailings from non-profit's I know to be extremely successful with their fund raising efforts.
Everywhere I turn, I'm finding the points Ms. Sanver made in this book justified.
