"Victor Catano had me from page one and his style of writing is fun, filled with dialogue that is priceless and face it, who doesn't love a slobbering, gaseous dog who has a perfect grasp of comedic timing while still being heroic? Mr. Catano has a gem here just waiting to be discovered!" Tome Tender Book Blog

When Gabriel’s witch girlfriend doesn’t return from her latest trip, he gets on the road and heads out to find her. Sheila's coven is secretive and distrustful of Gabriel, so the only help he has is Sheila's familiar, a bulldog named Orson, who is psychically linked to both of them.

In Florida, they walk right into an elaborate plan to steal Orson. A mysterious wizard named Yareth is behind the plot, and he may also know where Sheila is.

Gabriel and Orson will have to fight for their lives as they navigate around all the magical roadblocks to force Yareth’s hand. They won’t give up until Sheila is safe.

"Tail and Trouble is absolutely awesome! Omigosh, I laughed so much while reading this book! Tail and Trouble is probably the funniest book I've read in awhile...I would recommend it to any adventure, magic-loving book reader because that's what you'll get when you read Tail and Trouble. I give It five stars!"- The Book Adventures of Emily"I had a TON of fun reading this. The prose is witty, humorous, and filled with snark. The characters leap off the page--Orson in particular. (I'm sorry, I can't help it--I love me some non-human characters, and Orson is just too adorable not to love!) I definitely recommend to lovers of fantasy, entertaining characters, and unique story-telling. The voice for this read? Top-notch. I can't wait to see what Victor Catano will bring us next!"- Betwixt These Pages"One of the funnest books I've read all summer! Tail & Trouble by Victor Catano is an energetic story of adventure and magic. "- The Coffee Pot Review"With a fun, fast paced plot driven by charming, well developed characters, Tail & Trouble is one of those books you can't put down. When you're done you're left with a warm, fuzzy feeling of satisfaction and a longing for more."- J. Leigh, author of Way Walkers: Tangled Paths "A fun, often funny, and very entertaining read, especially for fans of urban fantasy. I look forward to reading more adventures of Gabriel and Orson, the telepathic bulldog"- Karissa Laurel, author of Midnight Burning and Arctic Dawn

Victor Catano has created fresh, fun, unforgettable characters in Tail and Trouble. The dog, Orson, is fantastic. The man, Gabriel, is fundamentally sound given all he's been through, and he's working hard at getting even better. But as great as they are individually, these two characters together are FABULOUS. Their relationship, their quest, their love for the same woman all add up to a friendship that is greater than the sum of its parts. They are in turns, hilarious, poignant, determined, but always inseparable.

This is essentially a cozy paranormal mystery written from a male point of view, and it was trerific. Kudos to Mr. Catano for breaking new ground in style. This is the freshest new voice I've read in quite a while. More, please!

I enjoyed Tail and Trouble. The mystery, while not overly complex, was decent. The characters were well developed - and I loved the talking dog. I read this book on a 6 hour cross country flight and it was good enough to keep my attention. There were no overt grammatical errors that tend to pull me out of the story. The book's pace was good and it appeared to be well edited. I would read more books by this author.

Sheila is a witch who goes missing on a mission to Florida, sent there by her NYC based coven. Gabriel, her boyfriend, and Orsen, her bulldog familiar, head south to try and find her. Along the way they come across a number of witches, sorcerers, and wannabes who are dead set on gaining power and taking Orsen away from Gabriel.

The book is written with lots of humor. Orsen, bring magical himself, is able to communicate telepathically and is a rather amusing part of the story. Gabriel, non magical, is a former military man who can handle himself pretty well. The two make a good team as they search for Sheila.

I was looking for something light to read and this fit the bill.

I very rarely submit reviews but this new author is terrific, the book is wonderful. I've recently read many so-so and below average e-books in this genre, including ones with excellent reviews on Amazon. It was a real pleasure to come across a new author writing paranormal mystery fiction and doing it so well. There's a strong dose of humor throughout but not the overpowering kind you frequently get with less able writers. The story moved along steadily and the dialogue between man and dog was perfect. My only disappointment is that I don't see another book in the series, not even one available for pre-publication purchase. I sincerely hope Catano writes another and doesn't wait too long to do it!

This one is full of evil vs good, in that order. It takes a long, long way around to get to the good part. Inventive circumstances, well edited. Great, well e fined characters. This author could be going places.

I got lucky enough to find this for a special deal the other day. Money well spend as the book is funny, entertaining and just a fun, little read. Dog lovers especially will be able to relate and who can resist a good battle of good vs evil. If you like a little magic and a lovable canine, this will work nicely.

I am picky about books i read. i really liked this. it was a fast, fun, easy read. I also read Joe Pickett and Agatha Raisin, so that kind of style.

After over half a century of reading sci-fi and fantasy (yep, started with Oz and Cat's Eye at 8 and 12, respectively), I've read many many authors and many many plots. It's hard to find a story line that's really new, well enough written to hold my attention, by an author whose grasp of grammar and punctuation doesn't cause me to hit a reading speed bump every few pages. Victor wrote a good one.

Funny, fast-paced, fast read, a new idea, well-written, no speed-bumps. Boy, oh, boy do I hope he writes some more. A lot more!

I loved this book. A nice easy read for my morning commutes, it was entertaining and filled with magic. I aspire to be Wendy selling sandwiches, but to own a dog as faithful as Orson

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is perfect.

I rarely write reviews but this book is just perfect. This book has it all! Comedy(Orson and Gabriel are just the perfect duo). Adventure, Mystery (about shiela's disappearence) Action(Which was amazing) and Magic(which was simply the best part.)
Shiela's character is so good. She develops as a witch and takes control of her powers. Her love towards Gabriel (her boyfriend) and towards Orson (her dog) is very true.

Orson is funny, caring and fearless.(considering he is a dog who can talk and has magical abilities.)

Gabriel's unconditional love towards shiela and his quest to find her at any cost is thrilling.

Some more characters like Wendy (another nice witch), yareth(the antagonist) were good.

Overall an amazing read. Highly recommend.

Really enjoyed this book and was sorry when it ended. The dog is very entertaining and an unexpected 'star' of this story. Looked for more by this author but this is the only one. Look forward to reading subsequent books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thinking woman's macho
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 23, 2016
For a start, I'm a Jane Austen and Anthony Trollope aficionado. So this really isn't my sort of story. But for some reason I bought this book (maybe I was magicked into it) and I've just read it almost at one gulp. The hero is a sort of thinking woman's macho - all ex-army fists and hamburgers but funny and sensitive; the dog is a nice idea, well done; the witchy stuff is cool enough to be believable but not weird enough to be worrying, and all in all it's a ripping yarn by an author who knows how to write a story that almost won't let you put it down.

For a first book this is brilliant! It keeps up a reasonable pace but still offers enough detail for those of us that like intricate narrative. The banter is believable and the relationship between man and dog is excellent. Good book, great read, don't believe me? Give it a try! Can't wait for the next one!!
