I Got the Glow!!!!

I initially read this book on the Amazon Kindle app when it was first released because I couldn't wait to have it shipped to me, I wanted to read it right away. Tonight!! I had the opportunity to watch the movie "The Last Dragon" on the big screen as well as meet the man himself in the flesh and actually get a hard copy of my book signed and also get a photo with him as well. There was so much I wanted to say however I knew time was short and there was a function to get through in a orderly manner, so here I am writing a review. The life of this amazing martial artist is one that mirrors most of our lives with the ups and downs and crazy turn a rounds however the difference is how we handle those situations we can choose to drown or soar and Taimak has soared and continues to do just that. Being formerly trained in martial arts myself style shorin-ryu which originated from Okinawan. I've always been fascinated by Bruce Lee coming up and so did Taimak but unlike myself Taimak has continued to study and profect the art. After I read this book and after seeing him in the flesh today with flawless skin and in shape and full of life and energy it's given me the motivation to want to start practicing again. This book is filled with heartfelt poetry which I enjoyed reading, he takes you on a journey of his life from the very beginning starting with his young childhood family life and upbringing. I can tell that Taimak put his blood, sweat and tears into this autobiography he was so transparent in telling the story of his life which I have interrupted as being one which has had some challenges also a life that has been very colorful as well. Having read about the surviving of the industry, how he survived what I'd like to call the "undercover wickedness" of Hollywood really showed me that he's a man with integrity and through it all he still stands and I ask myself, Who can stop him now? The answer is no one he continues to flourish and grow which is something we must all aspire to do. The Last Dragon Guardians of the Glow is something that most definitely need to come alive on the big screen for all die hard Taimak fans as well as others to see. The Last Dragon was a classic movie and I'm sure "The Gaurdians of the Glow" would be as well if/when it's brought to fruitation. So Yes!! I recommend you buy this book it's insightful and motivating and it's the life story of a man whose down to earth with a beautiful spirit and that man name is Mr.Taimak Guarriello.

"The Last Dragon"

Bruce Lee once said: "If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you'll never get it done."

When I think about Taimak's autobiography which is beautiful expressed in his book "The Last Dragon", I know that I do not need to have a perfect plan that will get me the results I want. However, I can take a first step towards my goal regardless what it is and just put my best foot forward, while committing to the process itself and not to the results.

Taimak's ability to see the world through the lense of the martial arts is truly special. His vulnerable side that goes along with his beyond powerful personality, made me realize that I do not have to be strong all the time and vulnerability can be a strength itself.

I have read thousands of books in my life but "The Last Dragon" is definitely special; especially for those who ever practiced martial arts. This book has a power to lift your spirit, empower you and bring you to a different dimension of thinking that helps you to move forward in life.

Taimak's book is a wonderful read. If you want to know what happened to your favorite 80s hero after The Last Dragon then pick this book up! He has had one heck of a journey, but it's a powerful and uplifting one. It will motivate you, make you think, and at some points laugh out loud. Well done Taimak because you certainly still have "the glow"!

There were so, so many memorable parts; Taimak’s mom and dad’s backstory for starters…his growing up living in London and Rome and New York…what motivated his want to study martial arts… the many who inspired him... and countless legends he’s worked with, or shared friendships with…and the one premonition that really hit hardest by the end the memoir: “if there is a God on earth, that role was written for you.”

Anyone who has an appreciation for either memoirs or martial arts movies, …or how about loved the film ‘The Last Dragon’ will be in for a special treat. Organized and unpretentious I highly recommend.

I had & still do have a crush on Taimak, ever since The Last Dragon. He is still Bruce Leroy. His book is so amazing. His story has so much meaning and depth to this personality. He is truly a motivating force for everyone. He encourages so many people through his story to continue to follow their dreams and don't give up on their goals. His mom's recipe for Sweet Potato Pie is so cool. The treatment for the Last Dragon Sequel is great. I truly hope someone picks it up and makes it into a movie...The Fans are still waiting to see Bruce Leroy. We love you, Taimak.

Ever since I saw The Last Dragon on HBO one summer during the 90s, I've always wondered whatever came of Taimak and why a sequel was never made to this cult classic. Fortunately, this great book answers all those burning questions and more! I have the utmost respect for his truly honest depiction of his upbringing, the relationships he had with the people he worked with, and the realities of making it as a black actor in show business. So many of the lessons he learned about humility and self-respect in a difficult business were as inspiring as some of Steve Harvey's own books. This is a must read not only for Last Dragon fans but also for any aspiring actors out there.
