This replaced an older, smaller, Brand X tankless which was on the house when we bought it.
Since that one used a battery pack ignition, some wiring as well as plumbing was required -- parts and labor for professional installation came to $350.
The water is, as expected, at a much higher flow rate. Additionally, with the temperature set to 122 fahrenheit (the top of its "normal" range) we can mix cold water and get even more of a waterfall in the shower. Very, very nice.
At an all-in cost of about $900, one of the best household improvements we have ever made.
The wiring for the remote was twisted and bent around like it had been wired , hooked up and fully installed before.
I thought I was buying a new item, not used.
It may be fine, who knows, but I don't want to be a tester for used equipment, it should be sold as used equipment.
It was falsely advertised as new.
The part if I had not been able to fix was about $300. I was lucky. The unit is a good one and easy to install.
These have some limitations, they're best suited for filling bathtubs and taking showers, if you are looking for a hand washing/sink hot water heater, best to go with one of the small Bosch heaters right at the sink.
Ours doesn't like working with the washing machine, which draws the water in short bursts, so the heater turns on and off in quick succession, not amply heating the water and generally overworking itself, so we just use cold water now. If I were worried about that, I'd add a small Bosch heater, but I'm not.
Very efficient in gas usage. I did have it linked to a water heater and used this as a back up but the unit seemed work better as a stand alone
as far as water temperature adjustment in shower . I have it set to 115 . Turn the handle all the way up for a very warm shower and turn it
down to tune it to your liking.. It is in a Rental and so far no one has complained . We have tested it with both sinks, vanity and kitchen on and
shower on . Keeps all 3 going with out a temp variation. By the way my Plumier friend has had his for over 10 years here in HI.. We have catchment
water so he has not flushed his unit but said if you have ground water with any sediment you should flush ever so often..
Update: It has been almost 2 months, and I still love this water heater. No complaints at all!
Another update: After more than a year, still loving it.
Update after almost 4 years : I'm still loving it. Every year I flush it with vinegar for an hour or so, to remove any scale built up -- other than that, it is zero maintenance, and it just works!
