The kids always coming first...
The loneliness at times...
Oh how this book hit home in some many different ways. I am not sure if Torre Robles meant for this book to be a tear jerker but let me tell you I had tears in my eyes numerous times only because the issues that arise throughout the book are so realistic and honestly hit home. It really had me thinking about my marriage and how I related to a lot of what Whitney was going through. I may even try and get my husband to read the book.
If you are married with kids you know the trials and tribulations you go through to keep everyone happy and sane as not only a Mother but a Wife and personally I know it can be an exhausting thing. Torrie Robles takes you on a journey with Whitney and Heath. There marriage is at a stand point and decision needs to be made whether they fight for their love or go there separate ways. You have to read this book to find out if they are able to find there way back to each other.
I truly love reading Torrie Robles books and can’t wait for what she has coming next. Love Take 2 is an emotion packed book and I loved every minute of it. Even if I wanted to smack Whitney and Heath a time or two.
* Review By Chasing The Words Book Blog
All I ask in a story is that it take me from my real life and put me 'there.' In the setting, with the characters. When I leave the story and come back do I get a sense I'm going to hang out with those people. Do I invest? In this case, I found myself really cheering for Torrie. She's developing and any good author will get better and better. This is her best yet. Yes, it's an indie book but unlike a lot of those which grind into non-situational vulgarity or poorly developed characters with unbelievable plots- this one rings of home. How many of us married women have wondered, "Is the grass greener?" I have. For sure. Like daily.
Torrie explores this in a sweet and believable way. It doesn't hurt that Whitney is pursued by not only her husband but a dashing and enviably sexy Navy pilot (swoon)..........but she also has to find herself. Torrie gives a breath of funny, loving marriage, broken marriage, family dynamics, tight girl friendships, temptation under pressure, work strains, self image battles..............all of the things we women face today and pulls together a story of interesting dialogue, sympathy for the main character and a genuine investment in how things turn out. I laughed out loud. I wondered what it would be like to live in her shoes. I've sat in my car and wondered what I would do if faced with her situation? Torrie, brava brava brava- the fact that you wrote this driven by talent and imagination - makes me want to stand and cheer. I loved your book- I want your next one. You have a fan in me!
If that doesn't make a good book and make this a 1- click, then what does? You can buy a bagel or get this fun, zesty read- you know what I chose! I see Torrie getting dialogue tighter, the plot becoming a true timeline of believability, effective description to set the mood and scene- her cover art is TOP NOTCH.....................watch out for this one. She is a fantastic indie author and deeply dedicated to her work. Takes her reviews seriously and I can't wait to see her hit it big. Thank you Torrie for a delightful and insightful read.
I was apprehensive about reading this book because I have come to absolutely LOVE Torrie's Devil's Fury series and going into this book while she has me so fully engrossed in that series, I was afraid I either wasn't going to like this book or give it a fair chance. Because that series and this book are on opposite ends of the spectrum. But I have to say, that because of the talent, the drive and the love that Torrie puts into her work, she has once again reminded me why I was so taken aback and drawn to her after fate threw us together and she offered me a copy of her debut novel Accidentally Perfect. She writes with feeling, determination and it resonates with me. This is simply a story about life, love and commitment. It's real. It's not a story about a billionaire playboy that falls for the young innocent virgin... It's a story that could be about you...about me...about your parents. It's simple real. It's true love. It's about a couple that get stuck in a rut and that connection feels broken. The question is, can they find it again...jump out of that rut. This story is written with heart. It might not be a book or enough for someone that is into dark, gritty, intense, suspenseful reads. I love those kind also. But this is exactly the kind of book I needed to read at this time. Again, Torrie, thank you for reminding me that true love never dies and that it's ok if you sometimes feel like that, but when something happens and you need someone desperately, the one you truly love and the one that truly loves you, will be the first one right there when it matters most.
