At 15 years old Tom was kicked out for being gay. For four years he lived and survived the only way he could- being a rent boy. Seb just got a full time position at the company he worked at and is going places when he accidentally drives by a face from the past - Tom. Both guys had feelings for each other before Tom was kicked out, his shameful secret buried and lied about. They can't stop thinking about each other and Tom has to learn to open his heart to love, trust, and loyalty.
This is a good story and the characters are great. I look forward to the next story!
A beautiful story of how no matter what life throws at you and how low you think you’ve fallen, there I always a way out of it, you just have to search for the faintest glimmer of hope, grab it with both hands and never let go.
Tom has a tough life, selling his body night after night to keep himself fed and safe. Despite the terrible life he’s forced to live, and things he’s endured in his short life, he doesn’t have the one thing this character could so easily have had, hate. He refuses to let that emotion have any control over him, and it really did endear him to me. The one thing Tom keeps is his dignity and doesn’t want to have everything handed to him on a plate.
Seb goes out on a limb to save the best friend of his younger brother, Tom. But what he found was more than someone who he felt he had to save, he found love in the most unusual of places. It would’ve been easy to do the who rags to riches with Tom, but he didn’t. Instead he showed him patience, love and understanding.
Nothing in this book felt forced, or written for effect, each scenario was well thought out and placed perfectly, adding depth and strength to the characters whose world we were living in.
I loved how sensitively the subjects were handled, with such care, but at the same time they made me feel the emotions, the denial and rejection of parents for their own son had my blood boiling with rage.
The relationship between these two was organic, it grew as I turned each page, and made it a very enjoyable read.
The supporting characters were just as strong, but not too strong that they took over. I have a feeling that some of them will be getting their moment in the sun, or their very own ‘second chance’ soon.
I’m so happy to have found a new author who I can’t wait to read more from.
I always pick a favorite character in a story and mine is going to be Seb.I found him to be sweet, kind, understanding, smart,
determined and non judgmental along with having a very big heart.I loved how he kept trying to help Tom and never gave up .Seb just wanted to help him get out of a really bad situation even though Tom fought him at every turn yet he never gave up thinking him a loss cause.I admired him for that. Seb was just a all around nice generous loving soul that cared about Tom and those of his friends and you could not help but love him for the kind soul he was.
Tom was more of a complicated character that had his up and downs but you had to love how strong he was in order to survive the things that he was forced to do.I loved how protective he was of his friends.I love how he was brave enough to put his trust in Seb all the while being scared out of his mind of getting hurt and being disappointed yet again.I loved seeing the broken spirit of this man gradually come back to life.
I enjoyed this heart wrenching story that involved parents who were suppose to love and protect their children yet turned their backs on them all because they didn't like their life style choices.A touching emotional story that had a couple following their hearts no matter what the consequences.I love when your able to find your soul mate and they are the one who helps you heal the parts of you that are broken just by believing in you as well as loving you.Makes your heart feel good.
We are giving this story 3 stars as I felt that there were some loose ends that should have been tied up when it came to Adam and Ben.I also missed that there was not an epilogue I just felt that the story just abruptly ended.I would have loved to have seen a glimpse into the future of this cast of characters and if any of them had found their happy ever afters...
