Micalea Smeltzer really outdid herself with Take A Chance, the final book in her Willow Creek Series. By the time I had reached the end of the previous book, In Your Heart, I was incredibly intrigued by Arden and Hayes. Micalea gave us glimpses of a connection that would surprise me and impress me in Take A Chance. Hayes is the one character that completely snuck up on me. Throughout the series he remained almost a complete mystery. Going into Take A Chance with only a tenuous and hopeful connection to this character, Micalea Smeltzer managed to blow me away with Hayes’ intensity and steadfastness. His easy charm and fun-loving personality made him impossible not to love. Hayes, Arden, and Mia share a journey that is full of laughter and heartache, teeming with unexpected emotion and powerful truths.

Hayes and Arden are very much opposites when they first meet. Being a young mother, Arden is cautious, serious, and selfless. She lives her life for her daughter Mia, silently haunted by the nightmares of her previous relationship and ingrained feelings of inadequacy. Micalea manages to completely transform Arden over the course of this book, allowing her to enjoy life again and accept love in all its forms. Her evolution was often heartbreaking and undeniably challenging but Hayes brought her through it with his humor and lightheartedness. Hayes initially struck me as the funny, carefree member of the group. He seemed to have been the most settled going into this series. In Take A Chance, Micalea Smeltzer dives deep into the heart of this character, unveiling an unwavering loyalty, fierce protectiveness, and genuine heart. His interactions with Mia were probably my favorite part of this book. Hayes kept me laughing and shaking my head while simultaneously making me swoon.

As much as I loved each book in the Willow Creek series, this one was definitely the best. Hayes and Arden fell hard and fast for each other, but it was true love at its finest. The final book, unfortunately, in the Willow Creek series was fast-paced and had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down I was so enraptured and had to know what was going to happen with Hayes, Arden and Mia. I absolutely loved that Mia wasn't a side character, and was always a part of the story. Her and Hayes together were adorable, and I loved how he fell for her too. This story was full of love and action, and I'm sad it was the ending of one of the most amazing series I've had the pleasure of reading.

This book was awesome just like all of the first 3 books. Now I'm sad and depressed that it has to end. "Sniffle sniffle" I really like how Hayes is so funny, a joker, and a big tough guy and yet has the biggest heart and is so sweet to Arden. Not only is he so thoughtful and caring towards Arden he's very sweet to her daughter Mia. Arden is so quiet and calm compared to Hayes and has been, through so much. Hayes is like every girls dream a big tough and funny guy who likes kids is awesome, and one that treats them just the same as any other is perfect in my book. Hayes doesn't judge Arden for having a 3yr old or for what her past may have been. He just continues to push Arden to let him in and prove that he's not the player that she thinks he is. He not only wants Arden in his life but wants and accepts Mia to like its nothing and as if she's almost his own. Most guys would want nothing to do with a child. Another thing that is so sweet is how Mia actually likes Hayes and loves that he is around. It's understandable with what Arden has been through that she has the fear of letting him in. Any girl would be the same if they went through what she has been through. I love how they go together so perfectly and Hayes is just like one big kid. Not only are they so perfect all of the other characters are great. The friendship and as they call it family connection that they all have is awesome. They each have their own special role that they play which really makes it come together. I hate for this to be the end of willow creek story's. I want more. Michalea is really a good writer. I could still see more about the whole willow creek gang. I love all the characters so much.
Micalea please write more about them "wink wink"😉. I don't want this to be the end.

The Willow Creek boys have made their way into my heart and not wanting to let go. And I am completely okay with that. This has been a fantastic ride with these rock stars and I have enjoyed every moment of it.

Take A Chance is Hayes’s story. Joshua Hayes is the guitarist for Willow Creek. A known player back in the beginning of the band’s rise who is now reformed and looking for something more. He has his sights set on Arden who has had a troubled past due to her ex-husband. She is now rising her daughter Mia on her own and working in Sadie’s store. She does her best to ignore Hayes’s pursual of her but even she knows that her defenses are no match. As much as she would like to deny their chemistry, she has no choice but to eventually give in. And when she does, boy is it great!

Hayes may have become my favorite Willow Creek boy. He is so sweet and caring and loving when it comes to Arden and Mia. The way he treated both of them was beautiful. His gestures, sayings, and actions made me, the reader fall in love with him alongside Arden. Arden is a strong woman. After everything that she has been through in her past, she continues to make the best of her situation and do great by Mia. The relationship that Hayes, Arden, and Mia have is so loving. I just adore their little family. But then Arden’s ex comes back into the picture and starts trouble. Hayes would do anything for his girls and I was so glad with how he handled the situation. He’s such a great guy. This book has such a tender feel to it. Micalea did a great job with the delivery and the characters. I loved it.

I am so sad to see this series end. I have loved every single book and feel in love with Maddox, Mathias, Ezra, and Hayes. Emma, Remy, Sadie, and Arden are such great females. The characters and story-lines were awesome. Such a wonderful series that will readers will definitely enjoy. Willow Creek groupie for life :)
