and addresses the root cause of issues and explains the underlying factors that trigger Diabetes.
The treatment model is logical and straight forward.
This is not one of those "Complete idiot's Guides". It is a comprehensive and valuable
point of view on Diabetes and treatment replete with scientific facts combined with wisdom.
If you have a friend or relative with Diabetes, do read it as it provides guidelines on how you can play a role in
If you do not go for even a 30 minute walk daily or have a busy schedule and think you are perfectly
healthy, you could still benefit from reading this book.
If you are a Diabetic, it is a must read as it is a practicum on how to manage and lead a normal
life with Diabetes.
Dr Zaidi's book gave me valuable insights into the progression of my own challenge with insulin resistance. For instance, one's blood sugar level could fall in the normal range, yet insulin resistance could be brewing beneath the surface (as that individual is able to produce lots of insulin to compensate, for the time being. Things look normal, but it may be a ticking time bomb.) Another insight - dietary management alone will not control diabetes (exercise, spices and vitamins, and medication have a role.)
The clarity of Dr Zaidi's information enables me to get a good grip on the subject of insulin resistance and all the health implications. It may not be the complete work on the subject, as one reviewer has complained (I would have liked more information on different forms of exercise such as weight training). But if you have insulin resistance, and want to understand the disease process, and intelligently work out a game plan for the years and decades to come, this book is an indispensable starter.
One day I hope to be in LA, drop by at his clinic and thank him personally. (I live in Australia.)
Dr. Zaidi also has a unique, but scientifically sound treatment plan that gets at treating the root cause of diabetes, not just treating symptoms.
From this book, you can figure out if your doctor is giving you the optimum treatment for your diabetes.
To avoid complications, he tells you which tests you should have and what the results of the test mean.
His focus is on treating diabetes as a part of Insulin Resistance Syndrome (Metabolic Syndrome). He explains why it's important to treat all components of insulin resistance in order to effectively treat diabetes.
Also, there is specific information on drugs used to treat diabetes as well as information on herbs and vitamins.
This book really does give you an immense amount of practical information, but it is easy to digest and understand.
