The opener, “Come on Over to Me” is a down and dirty little ditty that introduces the listener not only to Williams’ singing style but also to her slippery style of slide guitar work. “Tell Everybody” is an uptempo rocker featuring Williams on her Gibson, with drummer Justin Holder providing a bedrock foundation. “Shame” is another demonstration of Williams’ guitar work. This time it’s hot and funky as she sings about a little lady who is fed up with some dude who can’t seem to stop doing the same stupid things, over and over.
“Played By the Blues” is one of those hard-luck-and-trouble cuts about getting burned again by another damn loser. “Sometimes I Need You Too” reminds her beau that she scratches his itch so why can’t he scratch hers every now and again. “Take Me As I Am” is a moody cut about that dead end street of trying to change someone and knowing deep inside that it ain’t gonna happen. “I Feel A Heartache Coming On” is an intense, soul-filled heart breaker about another gut-ripping premonition: this just ain’t gonna work out—and we both know it.
“Take A Chance On My Love” tells us falling in love can be a risky proposition. But sometimes you just gotta crawl out on the skinny, creaking limb and hope for the best.
