Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? If you have read Taken, you know the story behind Rachael and Merrick and Turtle Tear Island... If you haven't read it STOP HERE! Go buy it and get caught up. So moving on... Rachael has always had a little bit of an obsession with the Island. When she puts her mind to something she doesn't quit till she has it all figured out. For this book we are back at Turtle Tear and the Anniversary Party they were prepping for in Taken By Storm (again you must read to understand this) is coming quickly. Rachael has a full party coming in a few days but she is totally distracted by the things that involve the island especially the history and the past.
At the end of Taken by Storm Merrick gives MJ the Weston Plantation where Ingrid and Arichbald raised their family. It was said that Ingrid is buried somewhere on Turtle Tear, but that her spirit haunts the plantation that MJ is now to renovate... Well let me tell you the creep factor in this book, brought chills and goosebumps. Even the ice queen Jane who was sent to help MJ manage the renovations is affected by this part of the story. If you can rattle her facade then you can imagine how good it is right! The problem is not everyone is a believer...
I was so excited reading this one I couldn't put it down. Kelli does another AMAZING job weaving together this intricate story of Turtle Tear and the history it holds and the story of the original owners. Everything ties together perfectly but not before there are many bumps in the road and a heartbreaking scene between Merrick and Rachael that left me in tears... You'll see when you read it. The beautiful thing is that even with the tension in this book and the creep factor it moved their story along beautifully. I couldn't have asked for more out of this installment! Kelli has me on edge wondering what is going to come in the next book. I'm excited to see where the story heads next. Rachael, Merrick, Maddie and MJ are some of my absolute favorite book characters, and I feel like they have a lot of story left to tell... The next book cannot come out soon enough!
