I'm not big on writing reviews - It's just my opinion on how the books made me feel... so I don't write these long summary reviews about the storylines or characters... each person, I feel, will connect to books differently! So, I just tell you how I feel... and Olivia Cunning... is in my TOP 5 Authors... Her books are sexy, emotional, heart squeezing... full blown tears good. You will laugh, cry, and want to punch the characters... but best of all she writes so that you feel a deep connections with all of her characters and you root for them to finally get everything they deserve. When when you done with her books... for me... they linger in your mind for days. Give them ALL A TRY!!!
Shade Silverton. UNFF <--- That was the sound of my ovaries combusting. Based on his time in Try Me and Tempt Me, Shade seems like the jerk of Sole Regret. Much like Sed Lionheart of Sinners, Shade is abrasive, blunt, egotistical, control freak. Also like his "book brother" (what?! does that even make sense?) Shade has a side that only those closest to him ever witness. Shade's soft spot is something that took me by surprise, and had me melting for him from the start.
Speaking of melting...Shade is ONE SEXY MOTHER. I love the good guys like Gabe, Adam, and Brian, but god help me, I love a man who comes off as an ass and knows how to take control. Shade knows his way around a stage in concert and a stage in the bedroom. Seriously. Just... I can't even get started with what the man does to me in this book.
Alright, I suppose I've objectified Shade enough, for now. He has some issues, but honestly, is a good-hearted guy. He wants to do right for those around him, the ones he's hurt and neglected. He even has issues with his own self-esteem! And it's not a superficial gimmick to gain sympathy. Cunning built Shade into a strong character with a surprising amount of depth. I would be hard-pressed (heh) to say that Shade isn't my new favorite member of Sole Regret.
That's not to say that I don't hardcore love those other guys, I still do! Which reminds me, you guys are not going to want to miss Gabe and Adam in Take Me!!! I was so, so, so happy they showed up. Gabe's scenes were giggle-inducing, playing off his "gadgets" in Try Me, and boy oh boy, does he have something big in store for Melanie!!! (Lucky girl) Adam's scenes were very eye-opening, and provided a strong emotional moment, and some answers, to the animosity.
Take Me was everything I've come to know and love about Olivia Cunning's work. This story has a sexy as sin Rocker, a girl so sweet and cool that I can't even hate her, and some of the juiciest (lol) sex scenes that I have had the pleasure (<--- understatement) of reading. Take Me is, in my opinon, the best of the One Night with Sole Regret series thus far. At least, until Touch Me comes out.
Ok, I'll start with this...I didn't really like Shade all that much in the first two books. I thought he was an arrogant, cocky jerk. Well, let's just say that my perspective has changed. A LOT. In this book, we really get to know Shade. We don't see him as the Rock Star. We get to see him as a Daddy as well. I just about melted. Then, he gets reacquainted with his ex's sister and things heat up. Jacob "Shade", has always had a thing for Amanda, but never did anything about it, because really...he thought she was too good for him. Jacob, believe it or not, has some self esteem issues. That's why he hides behind the shades. Get it?
So, Amanda enters into the picture and like Jacob, she's always had a crush on him. Amanda sees her chance to spend time with Jacob alone and jumps on it. Literally. You guys...the sex in this book was smokin! I was numb by the time I finished it.
There are a few things I learned while reading this book:
1. Shade/Jacob became a totally doable guy for me.
2. Apparently, I need to invest in a swing and cameras.
3. Shade is a kinky guy.
4. I can't wait to see what happens for Jacob and Amanda.
5. I'm absolutely DYING to know what the heck Gabe is making and I'm willing to be the test subject!
Once again, Olivia Cunning created a guy that I would probably try anything with, who can soak my panties just by looking at me, and who left me breathless. Gabe remains my top guy in this series, but Shade is close behind. To say I'm looking forward to Touch Me, the next book, would be an understatement. Owen is sure to drench the panties too. I mean...he's got a peen piercing. Sign me up to mount that!
