This is where her adventure begins. She meets sheriff Wade Truman under circumstances that are less then ideal. It seems she has taken on the name Junebug Jess and within hours of her arriving, she has the reputation of a rough and rowdy gunslinger. Truman is one smokin HOT lawman! ' He has a certain cowboy charm that would make any modern day woman swoon. He seem to be dangerous, mysterious and ohh soo sensual!
Truman and Jess both feel a connection to each other. And before you know it, they set the pages ablaze with their unstoppable passion. *winks*
This was truly a fun and entertaining read for me. I absolutely love Truman and Jessica. I loved watching their attraction and trust grow throughout the book. Jessica is a bit unusual in Truman's eyes. And he knows that she is keeping something from him. But he feels a fierce protectiveness towards her and finds himself doing everything he can to keep her out of harms way. Truman is hard around the edges and Jessica knows he doesn't want to get too close. But she can see the soft, caring and loving side of him and she can't seem to put out the fire that burns for him.
If you like time travel themed books, then this is a great book to pick up!! It's a branding hot read with an incredibly scorching hot Hero ;) It's fun and entertaining and it will keep you flipping the pages until there are no more left!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book!!
With all of that being said, I honestly enjoyed this story. I needed something different and something not so repetitive. This story did that for me. It was a great fast paced, dual points of view, happy ending, cowboy romance that I honestly didn't feel any cheesiness with. I really liked that fact that there was barely a curse word to skim over and that the steamy scenes weren't overly done or overly detailed.
I really loved that the heroine, Jessica, was not a whiner, crier, timid or passive leading lady. She was who she was and that's what you got. Even if she got upset about something, she didn't live in her head about it or cry. When she did cry, those were the moments I cried with her, as those were a few sad moments where any real person would cry. I loved Jessica. She was perfect and I wish more heroines were like her. She acted like a real woman probably would act like in certain situations. She felt normal and real.
I loved Truman. What a hunky man! :) He wasn't an alpha bossy male like every other leading male out there is in books lately. He was protective, had a killer smile, he had his demons to deal with, he's the local sheriff and he was just over all a good guy who learned to let down his walls and finally let a woman in. He had his brooding moments but he didn't act like a complete jerk all the time and he knew when to let go of things or apologize when needed.
I was so caught up in this book that I only put it down when I passed out while reading it. I was wholly invested in this story and in the characters. I loved Angus, Wendy, Jake and Deputy Dempsey. Some had smaller roles, but nevertheless, I liked the secondary characters. I was happy to see Angus have his happy ending as well.
I liked that I was able to guess who was responsible for killing off two characters as well.
I loved that the prologue and ending came back full circle as well as the connection between Truman and Jake. Although, that connection was easy to figure out right away.
Lastly, I loved how this was set in the Wild West and Present days. I loved the outlaw aspect of if and how Truman and Jessica meet. And I loved Jessica's nickname: Junebug Jess.
Actually the last thing and certainly not the least thing is: I LOVE the cover of this book. Definitely a nice image to picture while reading about Truman Wade.
A year after the death of her brother, Jessica is involved in a car accident. When she wakes up, she finds herself in the Wild West of 1881. To complicate matters further, a dead outlaw nearly lands on top of her. She's hailed as Junebug Jess, the lass who brought down Left Hand Lou. Another problem is Dodge City's sexy Sheriff, Truman Wade.
He doesn't trust the stranger, but he's drawn to her in a way he hasn't been drawn to any woman since the death of his wife. He can sense that Jessica is keeping a secret from him, but does it have anything to do with Left Hand Lou? Jessica keeps hoping that she'll find a way back to her own century. In the mean time she gets closer to Truman as well as a few townsfolk. Perhaps this was where she was meant to end up. When her life is threatened by Lou's gang who think she has something that belongs to them, Truman swears to protect her at all costs. When she does find a way to go home, can she leave Truman behind after he's come to mean everything to her?
This was so enjoyable to read, and Truman was swoon worthy! Then again, most sexy cowboys are. He has his demons and self loathing that he slowly faces and overcomes with Jessica's help. I loved the heroine instantly. She had a wonderful sense of humor and when she turned her flirt on, she was downright funny. I expected her to be a scared city girl, waking up in a strange century, but she took everything in stride, and she wasn't easily intimidated by lecherous cowboys.
The chemistry and sexual tension between the hero and heroine was off the charts. They took their time falling for each other so that when it eventually happened, it was wonderfully sweet and believable. The author writes lovely historical romances, and I lways feel like I'm right there with the characters. I can picture everything with clarity and the characters always seem to come to life before my eyes.
I was a little lost at the end when it's revealed how she will get home, but I teared up right when she was about to find her happily ever after. It was a little odd, but so sweet. For a free read, this was a gem, and I'm going to purchase the paperback version to add to the other MacLean books I own.

This is a very good story which I really enjoyed, for a quick read there is plenty happening. The characters are interesting and the story good, with a twist to the plot. The sexual tension between Truman and Jessica is hot. The love scenes are very well done. I really liked Truman he was the epitome of tall dark and handsome, Jessica was feisty and I liked the way her character adapted to living in the old west. A worthwhile read.
