Hunter, Faye and Raider bonded under the care of a wonderful foster mother Miss Angelina, and they became family in all the ways that mattered. Hunter and Faye were an item for several years, but as the blurb notes, they had a few too many personal demons to slay and they went their separate ways five years ago. Now Hunter has been honorably discharged from the Marines and making a living as a fishing guide, Faye is still looking for her path in life, and Raider is assigned to the Deep Ops team which Faye and Hunter know very little about. When one of Miss Angelina's newest foster kids runs away, she sends Faye to Hunter with the request they work together to find him.
It is immediately apparent Hunter and Faye still have feelings for each other, and the UST is thick as they work together with Raider to track down the boy who turns out to be Hunter's half-brother that he never knew existed. The clock is ticking as law enforcement and bounty hunters join the hunt when the woman Jackson is with goes on a killing spree, and Raider and Wolfe from the Deep Ops team arrive to help. We even get a little bit of Roscoe, the Deep Ops German Shepherd with some quirks of his own, and a cameo crossover appearance from some of the author's most beloved characters from another series! If you haven't read the first book in the series, you can absolutely read Taken without worry- but be prepared to want to know more about the team after you finish this one! Now, back to eagerly awaiting Raider's story in Fallen which comes out in a few months...
Deep Ops series book 1.5. Novella length but don’t discount it. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a standalone.
Easter eggs for fans of Zanetti.
A second chance romance. They walked away from each other in the past. They want to try again but there is past pain that has to be dealt with.
The hero is a protector. He would never lay a hand on a woman. I didn’t like that she felt it was ok to kick him. It turned it into a sexy scene in bed but she should have found a better way to get his attention.
Love the dog! And the kitten too. The dog shows up only briefly in this story but he leaps off the page. Read the first book and you’ll understand my uncontrollable laughter at his antics.
Humor and suspense and romance. A great combination.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley. I also purchased a copy to share
Hunter Holt is retired from the Marine Corps, being one of the best snipers for the Corp took a lot out of him. Hunter lives by the Cumberland river and is a guide now.
Faye was a psychologist, she isn't anymore though, one of het patients committed suicide and that ended her career. The guilt she felt is still with her. Knowing how she got into psychology for all the wrong reasons she didn't mind leaving it behind.
Hunter and Faye grew up together at the same foster home, they had a relationship for a while but both were not mentally healthcare the time so it fell apart. Now they are back together to track Hunters half brother Jackson who has taken off with one of his teachers!
Hunter and Faye grew up in foster care together and were a couple until five years earlier. When they broke up, they were both damaged by so much. Hunter by the devastation he saw in the Marines, Faye by the loss of a patient, and both of them by the loss of their friend Mark. They were both still in love, but neither one of them could open up and lean on the other. They’ve been brought back together by the woman who raised them and for her, they’ll do anything.
Raider was also in foster care with Hunter and Faye and will use his Deep Ops connections and team to help before it’s too late. Wolfe and Angus also make an appearance.
On a side note, I don't understand why this book is titled Taken. I guess it doesn't matter.

And the guy with the cat(can't think right now what his name is) I love him. He's my favourite character.
I haven’t read the first story yet, but I definitely will now after reading this. I love Rebecca’s Dark Protectors series and was surprised she included a brief cameo with two of the brothers😁
Looking forward to Raider’s story next❣️
