A wonderful blend of paranormal and historical romance, this book is set in a fascinating world where werewolves are being hunted to extinction and getting desperate. Dimitri is a loner. He has set himself up in London society and is now a wealthy and successful man. But his past catches up with him in the form of the Russian pack he left behind. They have not fared well and expect him to help them fulfil a vision to save the pack. The vision involves Lia, who has no idea of her less than human heritage. The wonderful chemistry between Lia and Dimitri sparks off the page. A short sensual romance that's sure to appeal to lovers of paranormal and historical romance.

I was given an ARC to read and give an honest review. This was my first Historical Romance. It was amazing. Add a little paranormal to it and it took the cake! This book had me from the beginning, as I knew it would. I have read other novels by Dorothy McFalls; The Huntress, Neputne's Lair and the White House Gardener Mystery Series. So I wasn't surprised that I enjoyed Taken By Moonlight as much as I did. The chemistry between Lia and Dimitri had me flying through the pages, just so I could find out what happen next. If your looking for some steamy scenes, a hot guy and a bit of paranormal; this is the book for you! Praises to Dorothy McFalls!!

This was a free novella through Amazon. I haven't read anything from this author before, but the tag of "Historical Paranormal Romance" caught my attention. My three favorite genres combined into one!

Super Short Summary:
Lady Amelia is an almost-on-the-shelf-woman at 21 years old. She is restless and bored of the usual social niceties.
Dimitri we soon learn is a lone wolf who has been called upon by his old pack (the only pack?) to find the missing daughter of the long dead pack's previous alpha male and female.

Lady Amelia and Dimitri meet and sparks fly but it appears that Dimitri knows there are other plans for Lady Amelia and struggles with his own feelings about her future.

Thoughts:
This was a novella and I read it in an hour or so. Sometimes I prefer novellas as I can get a short story: beginning, middle and ending all in one sitting. I enjoyed meeting Amelia and Dimitri both. Often one of the main characters will annoy me at some point, but neither did in this case.

I enjoyed meeting some of the other secondary characters like Aunt Lettie and the Earl. They were likeable and three dimensional. I am not such a fan of Dimitri's sister.

There are a couple of characters that are portrayed as bad guys but then are either shown to be good guys or just fade into the back ground. I feel like Vlad's situation was unresolved.

Overall, I enjoyed this very much. The summary doesn't say much so I can't tell if explaining which of the various paranormal creatures exist in this book would be a spoiler so I won't say anything except it is my favorite of the paranormal creatures here.

Favorite Quote: Lord Carew to Lady Amelia
"Lord help me," he whispered, "you are so beautiful it causes me pain."

This was well written, but the plot was limited even for a short story. The author spent more time describing people, places, and settings, then setting up a storyline. The descriptions were excellent though. It was worth short time it took to read it.

Lia (Lady Amelia Routledge) has everything a girl in her class could hope for and yet she wants more--she aches for fulfilment. At a ball she finds what she's been craving in the arms of Lord Carew. Only Dimitri isn't at all what she expects. Abduction, shape-shifting and sensuality take this story to a level of adventure where it's impossible to put down. I was glued to the pages to find out what happens to poor Lia. With each conflict, I became more hooked until I turned the clock so I the time didn't fill me with guilt. This is a must-read for anyone who likes to read a story in one sitting. Taken by moonlight was written by a Pro!!

It's very difficult to create real personalities for your main characters, let alone your secondary characters, in a short story plus have a true beginning, middle, and a HEA ending but Dorothy McFalls has managed to do so brilliantly! Add to that, my personal soft spot for werewolf heroes who are incredibly sexy and brave and heroines who bring more to the story than beauty and sex appeal and you have a real winner! Also, the passion between the hero and heroine simply blazes off the page and the author even explains how it gets so out of hand. Fair warning: I personally enjoyed the way the sex scenes were written but they were pretty graphic, so if that sort of writing bothers you, you should skip this book. Otherwise, prepare yourself to enjoy Dorothy's smooth, flowing writing style, wonderful imagery, and excellent editing. If this is your genre or you want to try out this genre, then I strongly recommend you read this lovely story ASAP! Happy Reading! :-)

I liked it but it was so short. I loved the concept of a regency type shifter story. I wish it had been longer. To the h finding out that she was being stalked by werewolves would have been great in a longer style. But this author did a good job for this length. I will look into more by this author to see if she does longer stories.
