Easy to follow directions
Can add tea as well as fruit to the infuser to make your own "concoction" of fruit flavored water or teas
When you go to pour yourself a nice tall glass of tea, make sure to pour OVER a sink. The poor design of the lid/spout has caused many a spills. The flow is not "consistent" so it can make a mess.
The infuser itself is a mess when you try to clean all of the tea out of it. Just when you think you have shaken it all out, there is still some more in there.
If I am going to go through all of the trouble of making a delicious concoction of tea/water, I wish the Tea Maker was a little bigger - maybe 2 1/2 - 3 quarts.
I am an avid tea drinker. I drink it all day, every day. It is kind of a hassle to make it in the Takeya. I love to drink it. Can't say that I love to make it. But I do.....because I love to drink it.
I’ve been looking for a way to drink more tea than coffee, but to enjoy teas like the ones I buy in coffee places. This brews loose leaf teas, with flavors and medicinal properties to perfection. I don’t have to add ice, I can just put it in the fridge to chill as a concentrate, and pour over ice the next day.
Some questions that I had, and have read other people ask have been answered. In regards to tea bags and loose leaf teas, the directions specifically say to use 8 tea bags, or 8TBSP loose leaf tea, and I can modify the amount of tea to my liking. I use a mixture of loose leaf to get various flavor profiles. I also sometimes use 5 TBSP of flavored teas, herbs, along with 3 TBSP Loose Black Tea. You can get very creative!! Plus you can use the sweetener of your choice, and I use Monk Fruit Sweetener, it’s all natural, doesn’t spike blood glucose, and is 10x’s sweeter than sugar. So you use less. Some teas are so delicious, no sweetener is needed. The whole point to Cold Brews are the strength of the tea or coffee. No need for this pitcher if you just want to make regular iced tea. I just put 4-6 bags of Lipton tea in a big pitcher with hot water up halfway, and let it steep over night, remove the bags, add more water and sweetener, and pour over ice for a full bodied iced tea, but it doesn’t have the WAKE UP of high end teas, nor the medicinal or herbal nutrient properties, not the diffuser to steep the tea over night.
The other main question I see being asked over and over, and is a question that I had, is if you can use this Flash Chill Iced Tea Maker to cold brew coffee. Well, no. I have both, and they both have a very fine mesh Infusers, but the Cold Brew Coffee Maker’s mesh seems a bit more fine than the Flash Chill Ice Tea Maker. You could take your chances, but you might have some coffee sediment at the bottom. But I get that sometimes in my coffee cup from my regular coffee maker sometimes. It won’t kill ya, 😁.
I like to have both tea and coffee chilling in the fridge, and bought this pitcher with the green lid for teas, the cold brew coffee maker has a black lid, and I have a regular matching pitcher without an infuser that has a pink lid for my “Aguas Frescas,” (blended and strained fresh fruit waters), that I drink specifically for medicinal properties to hydrate, gut health, kidney cleanse, inflammation issues, glucose reduction, brain function, skin health, mucous elimination from colds, etc. You can find recipes on YouTube, my favorite channel is “Views on the Road,” because she makes awesome fresh fruit waters, and explains what they’re for.
So my 3 pitchers are uniform and color coded. They don’t leak, they are BPA free, so the font absorb flavors from inside or outside of the pitcher. The pitchers are stain, cloud, AND odor proof. So you can put hot water in (I use my tea kettle to heat my water), and your pitcher won’t crack, warp, ripple, or melt. (I usually let the water cook for a few minutes before adding it).
If you love teas from Starbucks, Peet’s, or wherever, you will love this pitcher. You’ll get the same results, and pay pennies on the dollar. Who doesn’t like to save money. Research Premium teas, and medicinal properties, and make those loose leafs go to work in your body. Make it count, AND enjoy a refreshing cold iced tea at the same time. 😊
The size is perfect for an afternoon of iced tea and I really like the slim design so that it fits anywhere I put it in my fridge. Or on my desk while I'm working, which is more often the case. One problem with that is that it sweats, like any unlined glass or pitcher would do. Not a mark against it, just an fyi for you to consider. There are lined pitchers out there and in hindsight I might have purchased one of those instead. But I do like the convenience of this so I plan to keep it and make good use of it. And if you keep it in the fridge, you won't even have this problem.
The handle looks like hard plastic but, in fact, it is it's hard plastic covered in a soft, form-fitting cover. See my photos. I pulled it down a bit to show that it's removable. I wouldn't recommend removing it often as I think it may be hard to get back on. It gives you a nice soft grip, which I really appreciate.

The plastic will grow foggy though, and I don't mean tea stains. Don't expect the plastic to stay pristine clear forever all around. But it's not altering the taste or anything, they will serve you well.
Es seguro de usar en lavavajillas, lo cual facilita la limpieza. Sólo hay que tener cuidado con los empaques.
