“Taking Charge of Your Fertility has become the Our Bodies, Ourselves for our time. Alternately silly, whimsical, and exhaustingly specific, the book was published fifteen years ago and is ranked higher by customers on Amazon than all other books except the third and fourth Harry Potters.” (New York magazine)
“Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a fantastic book, loaded with practical and beautifully presented information that will transform and empower every woman’s relationship with her fertility. I have an extensive biology background, but not necessarily in human reproductive sciences and I am ttc. Thanks to this book, I have learned how to follow my temperature and determine any changes in my cycle. Previous to this book, I was relying on goodle/blogs/apps to teach me about the details behind my reproductive cycle and was finding myself confused and overwhelmed by misinformation on the internet. Now, I trust my cycle and understand it thanks to this book.
I recommend it for women who are trying to conceive and for those who are not! Honestly, I recommend young women read this for empowerment and understanding of their cycles.
I think if you're a super diligent, extremely routine person this is a great way to track your body's natural ovulation cycle and use this method for both birth control and pregnancy. But, for me it just feels unrealistic, like I'd have to live in a bubble. Which I don't.
That said, it's a fascinating look into what our bodies are going through, and I did learn a lot about myself. It's crazy that we don't learn this as young girls from the get go.
