Even though it is touted as a Young Adult book, I couldn’t put this book down. Same for the first two books in this series. Lexus, Griffin and Phoenix have a lot of things happen in this series, yet they handle everything that comes their way with level heads, so there is not a lot of teenage angst. I can actually picture myself as Lexus as she navigates through her high school years with special powers. I wish I had special powers back in high school (and now, to be honest).
Kellie writes compelling stories with interesting characters that take place in descriptive settings. I highly recommend this book, but I strongly recommend starting with Book One, Flightless Bird, to get the most enjoyment out of this series. Kellie does a great job of making each book stand on its own if you haven’t read the previous books, but knowing the back story makes them even more fun to read. Warning: Cliffhanger. This series won’t disappoint, but you will be ready for Book Four when you finish this book!
The guys were perfect as always and despite how the previous book ended they are starting to see that Jaxson isn't all bad. Yes, he crossed a line and handled things wrongly BUT there is common ground between all of them and it will ultimately bring them all together. Jaxson is just as lost as the twins and Lex even though he hides it well.
We saw a lot of progression in this book and I didn't expect the twist. The next book has a lot to wrap up and relationships to established - I say established because in case you didn't know Jaxson is joining the group as a love interest 😍. I look forward most to THAT progression!!
Lexus, Phoenix and Griffin continue their relationship. Jaxson has seen the three of them together and it's a constant concern over how he will deal with this knowledge.
The twins and Jaxson try to get information out of Anders; however, he remains tight-lipped. The twins, Lexus and Jaxson embark on a hunt to find out information about their parents. What they find is NOT what they have been led to believe. There's mystery, loving relationships, and perhaps the start of new friendships.
Taking Flight, volume 3 of the Caged Series is an excellent read as is volumes 1 & 2. I can't wait until the next book is released.
