Wildblood has another hit on her hands. The primary and secondary characters are all wonderful, they are sassy, fun, sexy and go after what they want. James and Clarissa from Wildblood's CEO Secrets make numerous cameos. So if you read CEO's secrets than you learned all about Chance and have to read Taking His Own. This can be read as a standalone but this does take place after James and Clarissa's story.
I voluntary received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book for an honest review. Happy Reading!!📚📚
Both left with shattered hearts from misunderstandings.
Will they take a second chance at love after 10 years of holding onto anger and hurt?
Is it meant to be? Can they heal the wounds from their past and look forward to a future together?
I seriously think I could write a whole book of poetry dedicated to how much I love Chance. I adored him in the CEO's secret and was so thrilled when I found out he was getting his own book. This man is my perfect book boyfriend. He puts the Swoon in Swoonworthy!
Chance has never loved another woman. His heart has belonged to Zara since they were teenagers dreaming of their future together and when Chance was just a computer geek messing around with programming at his parents’ house. He’s a genius and was confident he would find success in the world, but what was most important to him and his future happiness was keeping Zara by his side.
Zara’s family moved away for her father’s work and Chance swore he would wait for her, but shortly after she left, all communication between them was cut off. Zara went into a massive depression, believing the love of her life had been lying to her for years and Chance was swept up into the world of billion dollar technology and success beyond their wildest imaginings.
When Chance and Zara cross paths 10 years later, he hopes that time has healed some of the hurt, but Zara refuses to give him the opportunity to explain his side of the story. He reluctantly backs off and instead weasels his way quietly and stealthily into Zara’s life, by generously offering his fortune and anything else at his disposal to help Zara’s family get through a difficult time.
He’s very much still a lovesick teenager at heart, doing whatever he has to do to prove that his love for Zara is real. Throwing his money around doesn’t impress her, but when he spends his valuable time helping her and her family and puts himself in danger to protect her, she realizes that she may be making the biggest mistake of her life by not allowing Chance back into her heart.
Can true love survive time, distance and temptation? Can broken hearts be healed and trust be regained?
HEA. Standalone. No cliffhanger. Fabulous writing. Emotional story. Deep characters. Beautiful second chance love story.
This book features Chance Madison, brother of James from The CEO's Secret, and his teenage love Zara. Chance and Zara haven't seen each other for 10 years, but Chance hasn't gotten over Zara and more importantly he doesn't want to. After all this time does he have a chance with her? Maybe not, but he's not going to stop until he gets what he wants.
Great story with very steamy moments. There was cheesy moments between the couple and sometimes I flipped over some pages. James was a real pain in the butt about Zara, I get why he was angry at first, but once he found out the truth his demeanor towards Zara only seemed to get worst. Unfortunately, Chance doesn't stop his brother from being a butt monkey to Zara, in fact, he kind of brushes it off with a chuckle.
Also I was little confused about Chance's behavior after finding out the truth about what happened 10 years ago. Chance was all about getting her back in his arms, but once the truth came out it seemed he was more mad with Zara even though she was innocent in everything.
It just seems everyone was quick to blame or assume the worst about Zara when the girl never did anything wrong to anyone in the Madison family. And that concept was carried out through the story and not once did they ever apologize for all the things they said/thought about Zara.
I wanted to love this story but it just felt a little one-sided to me and I just felt bad for Zara for the entire book.
