Review by Katherine E. Soto
What does a crying wind, a tormented teacher, a candy story haunted by a demon and a new book have in common? Tales from the Eerie Canal- 22 stories of the Delightfully Dark and Creepy is the answer. This is not your normal book full of bloody horror stories. Instead, it contains more finessed stories that might just make your hair stand on end as you read through the book. Some of these stories leave you thinking about the world we live in and if these are truly possible given the mental states of certain people around us.
This book is a jaunt in the minds of everyday people thrown into odd situations. I like to read horror and mystery stories that do not have a lot of blood and gore in them. I enjoyed this collection of stories. I look forward to more from this author.
The Detour and The Last Leaves of Autumn, while others make you smile like Go to Hell and Losing Track of Time. If you want to be transported to strange fantastical worlds where anything is possible then you can't miss this collection.Ms. Rein is a master storyteller who uses an arsenal of tools, including wit and whimsy. These stories will resonate long after reading them.
I promise you'll never view subways, urban vistas, braces, or back roads in exactly the same way again.
